I realise this isn't 'realistic', but perhaps something a little weird might be okay? All good if not. XD

Black coat with red 'hair', vaguelly modelled on the colouring

The 'skull' for curiousity reasons, looks like this. Vague skull-shaped splotch, maybe?

But really, just a badass looking horse with black coat and red mane/tail would be so cool! Like a biker devil horse? XD
