Yes. The lunar new year is celebrated by all of East Asia that includes Japan. (Korea, Japan, and China)
I find it VERY offensive that people call it Chinese New Year instead of Lunar New Year,
because we Koreans celebrate it too!! (I'm South Korean)
We also receive money, and wear traditional clothes, and eat celebratory food on the day.
