in sweden, we practice easter a bit differently than most!
instead of celebrating on easter sunday, we celebrate today, on easter eve. this is generally something we tend to do, as it applies to christmas as well - we celebrate on the 24th. kind of related, but easter isnt really tied to christianity anymore either, its become a secular holiday.
something that makes swedish easter extra different is that children dress up as witches and walk house to house asking for candy... now, you might ask, why witches? in old swedish folklore, its said that, on maundy thursday, the witches of sweden all travel to a place called blåkulla (blue hill) on their broomsticks or other means of magical transportation. there, they party with the devil until resurrection sunday.
i dont want to blab on about this for too long, but if you want to learn more, heres the easter page on the official site of sweden!
glad påsk and happy easter!
