A little guy who loves to act like a bird. Why a bird you ask? Well, its sorta a long story..

In a land long ago, there was an egg perfectly snug in a crater set in a cave. The egg began to rock, and crack, revealing a beaked gator. The little one cried out as he tipped on its side, trying to get his balance. He sneezed as its fluffy fur got around its nose, giving a jolt through its body. His eyes, like gold, shone open as a ray of light entered the cave. Enticed with this interesting, passthrough thing, he crawled into it on wobbly legs, feeling warmth overcome his body. With a satisfied sigh he curled up and lazily looked further out of the cave. There was an assortment or buzzes and chirps, a racket for another, but for him it sounds like a symphony. After sucking up the suns delicious offering, he began to head to the mouth of the cave, looking at the world around him. A forest of green lay out, with colorful flowers and soft grass. Birds tweeted and chirped above, analyzing him with wonder. The young one gave out a squeak to give recognition of a greeting, which gathered the attention of many others. A single bird flitted down to get a better look, and began to sing its own song. He didn't know how to react, but edged closer, causing it to hop back. His mind began to reel with understanding as the bird chirped away. He gave a few pitiful screeches, but to the birds, it was beautiful. More birds came down to shower him with their song, each time he would give them back an interpretation of his own. He was soon apart of the birds in the forest, adopted. He was raised with songbirds, fed by hawks, and taught about life with aid of robins. His voice was unique and his own, but yet for some of the creatures it was truly horrible. He reclaimed the name Deryn, coming from the word wren, a type of bird. Overtime, Deryn came to believe that the ones that hated his songs were just jealous, giving him more rights to boast.
