\my process when drawing most animals, i start out with a rough outline of the head and neck. Then add a oval for shoulders and a oval for the ribcage, then one last oval for the thighs. Then i add some stick figures for legs. This is a easy way of finding a pose, then you just flesh it out.

the face is a topic for another day lol

I typically break with the full barrel and add the Tibia/fibula to the closer leg. Sometimes I do a basic shape for the metacarpals, but typically I can get that after I've fleshed out the legs. It depends on the pose and mood of the character.

It's nice to know that you also break down like I do and it encourages me to improve since it seems I'm on the right path!

Your welcome! I try to keep it as simple as possible, there is no need to have a complex stick figure. The simpler it is the easier it is to change it later. You don't want to get stuck with a drawing because your too stubborn to change it
