These guys came to me in a dream last night and I'm very interested in making them a species. They're known as Steids [pronounced as Steeds]. They're a part of the Equidae family - possibly even distant cousins of today's donkeys.
They'd function as both an interactive and "genetics" species. Most markings wouldn't really be preset, but body parts would be - making the possibilities of the designs near endless. The only similarity they'd share would be their luminescent "racing spots", the mane along their spine, and incredibly racing speeds. So they're a very flexible species, and it gives people lots of room to develop them.
Here are some possible body parts/types you may see: feathered tail, feline-like tail, horns, claws, paws, hooves, long bodies, fluffy bodies, sleek bodies. Different parts give the steid different strengths and weaknesses!
Most interaction would be through bonding exercises between Steid and Rider, and activities would revolve around racing. Still trying to think of other possible situations.
I would love to start these guys up, but I'd like to see if anyone supports them first? Maybe around 10 people saying they like it, and I'll start 'em up. Otherwise, I might try my hand at it on DA. Keep in mind that adoptions would be free, or you'd have to earn them through non-monetary related ways!
Thank you for your time. nvn

More info as of 04/08/2017:
- Steids eat a number of things. They can survive on feed like oats, wheat, and corn, they aren't beyond enjoying a fresh slab of meat. Some have been known to going after the flies that tend to hang around. One more interesting thing they eat is bacteria. With a long tongue, equipped with near microscopic barbs, by instinct they will lick surfaces full of both good and harmful bacteria. The bacteria is easily absorbed into their body, and will help to sustain them longer than you'd think. They especially enjoy yogurt and cheese! And they like licking people, too.
- A steid's stomach and immune system are very strong - one of the strongest in the animal world. This helps when they ingest potentially harmful bacteria.
- Their eyesight is on par with that of a bird of prey.
- They can and will eat garbage. Please stop them.
