What is a Jewel Mane Dragon?
A Jewel Mane Dragon - often shortened to JMD, is a large dragon-like creature with extremely soft fur covering its entire body and special “jewels” located on both it’s head and tail. These jewels hold special powers, and grant each dragon abilities based on the color of the jewel. Many years ago, Jewel Mane Dragons were hunted for their pelts and jewels which were made into fine garments and luxury items. Around the turn of the century, the practice of hunting JMDs was outlawed. Since then most have taken to adopting Jewel Mane Dragons as companions.

First design in a while, pen pressure decided not to work at all, so this was a struggle.

favourite winter activity & why; zahra will forever be a lover of the
outdoors, and despite this, her favourite winter-time hobby is not
sledding nor is it skiing. in fact, her favourite activity is capturing
the very essence of winter: by taking photographs of the snowy
world. zahra often travels from place to place within Canada, her
camera in hand and hopes of finding the perfect snowfall to take
a picture of. her pictures are either printed off or are posted to
a tumblr blog, which not surprisingly is all about the snow that
zahra loves so much.

personality; zahra is - in all meanings of the
word - exotic. quite quirky in nature, she tends
to do things much differently than those around
her. she has trouble communicating with others
at times, being more on the quiet side, and is
prone to sticking more towards the back of the
group without even uttering a word; sometimes,
they don't even seem to notice her. although,
zahra has good reason as to not want to be
noticed. zahra isn't exactly the most kind of
dragons. words slips out of her mouth, and
are more often than not harsh of blunt. with
her inability to keep her mouth shut comes a
great deal of aggression directed towards her;
something that she certainly hasn't vied for.

history; zahra was initially the child of an
egyptian jmd, also being the illegitimate
child of another married dragon. once her
mother, of which had fled to mexico in
hopes of escaping those who were after
her in her home country, conceived the
baby now known as zahra, raising her to
the age of six before sending her to a
distant relative and fleeing the country
once more. from then on zahra grew up
in the hands of that relative, maintain-
ing a somewhat egyptian accent in
recognition of her mother. with a rela-
tively uneventful childhood thus forth,
zahra eventually moved to canada to
be with her newly found half brother.
