'She fluttered closer to the sleeping child. An average, dusky brown blanket adorned the pup's body, the only bit of color being a small white rose on her ear. The fairy closed her eyes and smiled, before weaving soft, golden bells of light between her paws. They seemed to dance, flickering lights becoming brighter and darker as they trailed along the blanket, leaving thin thorny vines behind. A beautiful red rose bush sprouted from the ground just behind the pup and curled over her, both protecting and comforting. One of the brightest lights merged with the original white rose, and the petals ruffled slightly as if a breeze had gone by before settling.
The fairy smiled; her work was done. This pup was blessed by the forest and the forest would protect her as she grew, and someday the rose's true color would show.'
