I remember watching the older versions of Dr Who with my dad, and loving them... ^~^ The other doctors, before the new seasons, were all older men, weren't they?

They were all roughly middle-aged (with the exception of Peter Davison, perhaps) in the classic series (Ages when they started being The Doctor: Hartnell 55, Throughton 46, Pertwee 50, T. Baker 40, Davison 30, C Baker 41, McCoy 44, McGann 37).
It's actually more unusual for The Doctor to be portrayed by a young actor, Matt Smith is the only one who's been under 30 when they started (Eccleston was 41, Tennant was 35).
And now that I'm looking at their ages, I just noticed that Capaldi is the oldest new doctor so far, at 56 when he started. I would have guessed Hartnell was older, but apparently not.

Do you mean the current Doctor (Capaldi), or do you hope they make the next one nicer?
I like Capaldis Doctor as he is, with the rudeness and pretty much having "Shut up!" as his catch phrase xD I felt number 11 (Smith) was a bit too kind and "cuddly", to be honest.
