An Esprit Deer [esprit meaning "spirit" in French], or Esprit for short, is a species that takes a form similar to that of a deer.
All Esprits have very large, fluffy ears, long necks, and hooves. Their eyes are all unique and it is said that by looking into an
Esprit's pupils, one may see their future. The most unique trait of Esprits is that they are born from the soul of a dead animal.
Their tails embody that of the animal that they are from. Rarely, an Esprit will spawn from a tailless creature, or an
invertebrate, and no tail is formed. These Esprits are sometimes seen as "rejects" and often defy their tailed siblings.
✦Mating✦
Esprits are beings that cannot survive alone, for the most part, and they will mate with other Esprits for life. They can produce 2 pups per litter. Esprit pups born from two parents ALWAYS take the animal form of their mother. They don't always have the same tail, however.
✦Diet✦
Esprits eat plants such as tree leaves, grass, and various fruits. Their stomach cannot process meats.
✦Defense✦
Esprits are often considered prey for other creatures, so their tails normally have a defense mechanism, sometimes based upon their animal form, in order to keep predators away. Tailless Esprits, however, are unable to defend themselves. This may be a large reason that they come so rare.
✦Colors & Markings✦
Esprits can come in all colors and markings no matter what animal they were formed from. Males tend to have brighter colors than females.
✦Males vs Females✦
Male Esprits have a rigid shaped muzzle and a single horn on their head. It's usually decorated with paint and small items in order to attract mates, but underneath it's just white. Esprits DO NOT use their horn as a weapon. They'd rather defend themselves than attack another. Males generally come in brighter colors than females.
Female Esprits lack a horn and have a smoother muzzle than a male's. They are usually a bit duller in color than males.
