An alpine jackal is actually mostly jackal despite looking very similar to a common dog or wolf, as most of it's ancestors were jackals. Of course their lineage also included dik-diks and white-tailed deer so was quickly assumed to be a scientist experiment that got out of hand. AJs look quite normal for the themselves, but they have a small charm on their paw that appears to be born with them and of course the two very small horns that rarely grow longer then a few inches. Something that absolutely baffled scientists was the companion that followed around this new species. It's physical appear was canine, but appeared to obtain some sort of element. Some however, very, very rarely, have no element at all. The charm, after recent studies, is like a lead for the companion. It stops the companion from getting to far way from the alpine jackal, yet no one actually knows why or how. The companions were very recently given a species name: "Mono" which means one in Latin. They were given this name as the companions could only ever control one element or ability.
