What is a Yas?
A Yas is a creature that looks very similar to a wolf. The name "Yas" means "snow" in the Native American Navaho language. The were first sighted by the Navaho Tribe long before the Colonial Era, and they were named so because they would only come out in snowy weather. They have thick fur to keep warm and large feet to balance more easily in the deep snow. They were very rarely seen, and only distinguished from wolves but the glowing gemstone that grows on their forehead. The Native Americans believed their gems to hold magical powers, and in a way they were correct. A Yas' gem always looks like the usual gemstones (diamond, ruby, topaz, etc) and possesses a certain power unique to every Yas.
More Description:
Yas always have natural-colored base fur, with markings that match the colors of their gemstone.
They are about 4-5 feet tall at the shoulder, and males are usually larger than females.
They can live to be up to 30 years old, and the gemstone turns black when they die.
Litters always produce two pups.
Yas are highly intelligent. They can't understand human language, but they can detect their emotions.
Yas generally live in packs of 3-8, with the occasional loner.
They hunt deer, elk, caribou, and buffalo.
