This was partly inspired when I was watching Legend Of Korra and heard about the wolf bats. In the show they were kind of... ugly, but I decided to make some cuter ones over here on CS ^^
Wolf-bats were bred when scientists wanted to come up with a new breed of dog that would fly or at least be more hyper and less doglike. They succeeded, but putting the genetics of a wolf into a bat made the wolf-bat rather... wild. If you do manage to tame one they are great pets. They can speak human languages, and are very smart. They can catch any disease a human can catch. Usually these creatures are mid-sized, being about the height of a table, but when they stand on their back legs they are about five to six feet tall. They are very strong, and from scientific study can carry about 150 pounds.
Wolf-bats do have wings, but they can't fly. They can only fly in the early stages of life before the solidness in their bones has developed. Until age six, their bones are hollow, so they can fly then. The 'wings' are less of a wing a rather more a protective casing around the elongated front legs. They have a short, stubby tail unless they are born with a particular disorder and it turns out long.
