Deciding that it would be too risky to explore this strange and ominous place, you decide to examine the strange knife in your hand instead.

Grasping the finely carved wooden handle in your hand, you could make out what seemed to be... letters?
You continued to gently feel the dips in the smooth wood, eventually figuring out an "i".. then an "n"... and so on, until you could say with certainty that the word imprinted on it was... "inevitable".

Somehow, even just the thought of this word brought shivers rolling down your spine, and yet, you had no idea why. It certainly meant something - perhaps it was an omen of things to come?

However, you soon began to feel a... sensation.
You could feel what seemed to be tickling the tips of your toes, soon spreading through your feet, as well as legs, and so forth.
It was only when the feeling reached your waist as you realized what was happening:

You were dissolving into thin air.

Once again panicking, you failed to realize how the knife had already evaporated long ago.
You could feel nothing but helplessness as your entire body slowly, but non-painfully disappeared, as you begged to someone, anyone out there to help - and yet, no one answered.
Or rather, they did not wish to answer.

.....

Gasping, you shot up, a paranoid look plastered onto your face.
You tightly clutched your chest as you once again, fearfully examined your surroundings.

Yet, as your vision sharpened, you realized that you were once again in the woods - yet, as you stood up, you realized the former, stinging pain in your leg had vanished as well.

You looked around, hoping to spot the bird as well - however, it seemed that the avian had already fled the scene. Disheartened, you decided that you now had to make a decision on what to do next:

A) Walk around the forest, calling for the bird.
B) Try to make sense of what had just happened.
C) Explore the forest for useful things that you may be able to perhaps eat, or make a fire with.
D) Stay put.
