Trading & Gifting:

Rules:
- You may only trade a cat after owning them for 30 days. Gifts have no cooldown.
- New! You may only trade cats/items for in-species cats/items or art*. You may NOT trade cats/items for C$, CS pets, CS items (including tokens), or anything else out-of-species. Trades for art require linking the finished artwork.
* Art includes new art of pre-existing characters, premade characters/designs, custom designs, commissions for Stars MYOs, etc.
This rule was implemented on August 13th, 4:30 CS time. A few exceptions apply:

- Any items you yourself purchased directly from Stars itself prior to this time may be resold for the price they were bought at, but may only be traded for in-species stuff once ownership changes.
- Any paid customs/MYOs which you are the original and current owner of and which were posted prior to this time may be resold for the value of any items you purchased directly from Stars itself and their commission price (requires proof). They may only be traded for in-species stuff once ownership changes.
- Link the cats' Oekaki pages, not archive pages or images
- You must have at least one user involved in the transfer post on the cat's Oekaki page to confirm the change of ownership. For off-Oekaki cats only, skip this step.

Rules:
- Items used to edit customs or pre-existing cats should be recorded here
- Items used on nursery tickets (that is, are listed in the original form on the nursery page) or new, unapproved myos do not need to be recorded here. These are archived separately.
- To use an edit item on a pre-existing cat, contact the artist with proof of ownership of the required item (note: nr edits do not require an item). You can ask the artist to add the edit themself, or they can add you or an artist you're commissioning to the drawing to add the edit. Please post a used item for immediately after, so your bank can be updated.
- All applied edits -- including NR edits, and edits added by official artists -- must be approved by the approval team. You can post the cat in the myo approval channel in the Discord, but filling out your archive form is the quickest way to get approval.

If you have a cat with a missing limb (leg), eye, ear, and/or toe prior to this announcement, you may be eligible to be refunded a rare edit item.

These refunds do not apply unless the cat is a MYO that you are the original and current owner of, or the edit was added with a rare edit item, or the edit was added with an autopass item in the nursery, or you traded for the cat (gifting does not count). These requirements must have occurred before the announcement linked above. Please ask if you're unsure if you qualify for a refund!


• If you added the edit using an edit item, autopass item, or 1rare myo (R MYO), you will receive 1 rare edit back.
  
• If you added the edit using an unlimited rare myo (UR MYO), you will receive a refund if removing these retired edits from the edits list will leave the cat with less than 4 rare edits. Each retired edit will receive 1 rare edit item until the cat's remaining edits plus refunded edits, equals 4 rare edits total.
  
  • For example, if a cat has 7 rare edits originally, and 3 left afterwards, you'll receive a refund of 1 rare edit.
    
  • If the cat has more than 4 edits, you did not lose any C$ due to the rarity changes and so no refund will be given.
(Please keep in mind that each missing limb, eye, ear, and toe is considered a separate edit. For example, two missing eyes is two rare edits.)

Due to high demand and low inventory, we've elected to use a raffle system for sales and distribution of supernovas. Supernovas cost 3000 stardust. If you win a sale raffle, you have to pay for the item before receiving it or having the edit rolled. If you don't have the funds, please do not enter sale raffles. Paid supernovas will receive two edit options to choose from (you must make a choice right after the roll; the item will not be banked until you do).

The "forever young" and "forever small" items have been removed from the shop as of May 2021.

These items can now be swapped out for:


Star's Touch: De-ages a cat to the kit or apprentice lines. The cat is not permanently this age; this item merely gives them a kit/apprentice reference. You will only receive one ref per item (i.e. an adult cat can receive an apprentice ref or a kitten ref, but not both with only one item).

Star's Grace: Fast ages one cat one stage ahead. You can only skip one wait period with this item, so either a kitten to an apprentice, OR an apprentice to a warrior. This item may only be used once per cat. If a kit has no apprentice ref, using this item will remove 3 weeks from their growth time rather than skip them directly to a warrior.

Q: I'm a COPPA user. Where should I post my archive forms?
A: Please post your forms on the Stars main page.

Q: May I sell a cat/item for C$?
A: No! Stars cats and items may only be traded for in-species cats/items/etc. as of August 13th, 4:30 CS time. Some exceptions apply to some cats/items owned prior to this time: items you purchased directly from Stars itself may be resold for their purchase value. Paid customs/MYOs which you are the original and current owner of may be resold for the value of their items that you purchased directly from Stars + their commission price (requires proof). For both exceptions, once the cat/item is traded, they become subject to the in-species-only trade rule. If you have a question regarding whether or not a cat/item is tradeable for a specific currency, please contact an available community helper or owner!

Q: May I trade my cat for art from another user?
A: Yes, you may! However, you are required to link the completed artwork in your trade in order for the trade to be considered complete.

Q: May I use a gifting form for a trade?
A: No. If you use a gifting form for a trade, the cat is considered gifted and this cannot be reversed. We cannot help you if the other user does not fulfill their end of the trade because you labeled it as a gift (which receives nothing in return). Don't do this.

Q: Do I need to post items used on customs here?
A: Yes! Items used on customs require you to fill out an archive form.

Q: Do I need to post items used on MYOs here?
A: No! Items used on MYOs are removed from your archive when the cat is approved, and filling out a form here is nothing but an extra step that you don't need to spend time on.

Q: Do I need to post items used on nursery tickets here?
A: It depends! If you used an item and it was included in your nursery form when your form was accepted, it will be archived automatically! If you used an edit item on a litter after the form was accepted, you need to fill out an archive form when your litter is complete. (E.g. if I link a star's blessing in my form, I don't need to post on the archive. If I apply a common edit item to a kit who didn't pass a roll after the form was accepted, I need to post on the archive.)

Q: How do I transfer a cat out of species?
A: You are required to receive permission from a co-owner and the user who designed the cat, as well as make a new, off-Stars-base reference for the design. When you transfer a cat out of species, you are only keeping the design and are disconnecting it from Stars. As such, the following apply: your cat will no longer be bound by Stars rules; your cat can no longer be used in any Stars mechanics; you may no longer use the Stars base reference for the design. The designer is allowed to apply their own TOS to the design.

Q: The artist who designed my cat isn't on CS anymore! How do I get permission to transfer the design out of Stars?
A: You may need to contact the user offsite to request permission! Please be respectful when doing so, and if the user doesn't seem to want to be contacted again, please leave them be. Someone's mental health is more important than your cat.
User DaniCalifornia has given permanent permission for all their designs to be transferred out of species if wanted.
