The clan was silent all cats held there breath as they watched Mallowfeather be examined by the medicine cat. The gray tom's flank hardly moved, as he was examined. Nightfur, Mallowfeather's mate crouched by his side, nose buried in his fur. The deputy had been taking his apprentice out for a lesson and took her up the old oak. The apprentice's foot got jammed in a squirrel's nest on accident and when Mallowfeather rushed to help her, he slipped on the wet bark and crashed to the bottom. The apprentice had screamed forever for help and it wasn't until her mother heard and recognized the wailing that se got her daughter down from the tree and rushed her mentor home. Now many of the cats fear the worst. Finally the medicine cat sits down and looks Nightfur in the eyes."He's dead." Was the simple response. NIghtfur choked back a wail, and Honeystar, the clan leader slid forward to face her fallen deputy. "You shouldn't of gone like this." She murmured. Now the clan must name a new deputy and continue on life as it is. So, will you join and live out Doveclan's Destiny?
