Russetbranch was born in the forest territory of WoodClan, and brought back to the clan by his father, Greystorm. As a kit he was always full of energy and loved to play games. Sometimes he'd manage to rope his father and father's litter-mates into playing a game of warriors or hunting. Upon starting his apprenticeship, he put his energy into training with his mentor, Brindlebreeze and started to become more serious about wanting to become a strong warrior, like his father and other relatives. Most of his younger life, he never questioned his lack of a mother and was cared for by another She-cat who he looked up to as a mother figure named, Whiteshine. Russetbranch would always make sure to spend time with her once he finished training with his mentor or when he had some sort of free time. Especially after she became a queen. When Whiteshine's kits were born, he took them on as his little sisters and brothers. Only a 9 moons after Honeypaw, Emberpaw, Snowpaw and Morningpaw's birth and a few moons after Russetbranch becoming a warrior, there had been a thunderstorm that had lasted over a day and a half. One of the mentors had mentioned that one of the apprentices were missing, though it wasn't mentioned which of the apprentices it had been. Two days after the storm, while Russetbranch and another warrior were on patrol, the two found the missing apprentice. Morningpaw sadly didn't survive. It hurt him to have to tell Whiteshine that the missing apprentice had been one of her own son. Over time after that many events happened, both sad and others happy in Russetbranch's life.
