And so...we learn....Ace's father is the great-great grandson of Katara.... Dun-dun-dun!
I think it's just that the way to draw it is easy. My friend had a necklace like it back in middle school (WAAAAY before the cartoon came out), but it is funny! More so as the character this is from, the game came out in 2011 and the cartoon in 2005, so only the artist can tell. >.<

@Kitty - What!? Minus the straight part, that was basically me until I was about 15. 😂 It took my friend asking me if I was the opposite gender if I would be gay or straight becuase she would be gay becuase she liked men too much, and I just stood there being like "what!? Wait...I have no idea!" 😅 Ace and I also have the same eye/hair color and heritage (mixed with a lot, but over all my mom's family came from France and father from England). After I did him I was like "wait a second....". Character has heart. 😋
