WHAT TYPE OF CATS ARE IN THE CLAN?
• The cats in this clan are generally tall for better
climbing and swimming abilities. The long limbs help
them maneuver quickly in the sea, and also assist in
reaching high cliff ledges.
• The paws are typically bigger in size and have thicker
paw pads for climbing, swimming, and to endure the
hot sands of the day.
• The coat colors are usually lighter in color. Darker
pelts attract more heat, so it would be harder for
these felines to be out in the sun all day.
• Strong shoulders and back legs are needed to
churn the water and to climb rocky cliffs.
• Long tails are common in the clan for
efficient climbing skills to develop.
• Cats become active at dusk because it is
coolest part of the day, though there are patrols
that go out periodically in mid-day.

INTRODUCTION
Your paws walk on ivory sand, surrounded by cliffs that
touch the sky. You are in a cove, a small bay sheltered
from the outside. You came in through a rocky
overhang, and there is a sense of calm in the atmosphere.
The sun is setting. The fiery orange light cast by the sun
bathes the beach in magnificent colors, and you stand
watching as it dips below the sea. Seagulls cast shadows
in the distance, drifting on the wind currents. Brightly
scaled fish swarm in the dusk light, leaping from the
surface to catch their evening dinner. Crickets start up
their nightly song, blending with the sound of chirping
birds and a variety of other animals.
You do not notice the soft pawsteps of an approaching feline.
You turn at the last moment to see a tall she-cat,
fur resembling downy duck feathers. She holds her head
in a regal manner, peering down at the newcomer with
a knowing grin. "Greetings visitor!
Welcome to Horizonclan, the clan of the setting sun.
State your name and your business here."

In-Character Rules
• The word of the King/Queen is law
• The House of the King/Queen is to be
respected over the others

Background: This is one of the oldest Houses
in the clan. They originate from the first group of
cats that settled in the cove, establishing the
traditions and laws that they live by today.
Recently, however, there have been fewer and
fewer members of this House due to a lack of
litters holding the same last name.

Characteristics: Cats of this House are
very proud of their history. They believe it
gives them more authority in decisions knowing
that their ancestors were the basis for the clan.
Older members of this House are very
traditional. Breaking marriage or duel laws
is seen as dishonorable, and could result
in being shunned. Adoption is, in addition to,
seen as dishonorable for this House, tying
back to the history of originating from the
main clan cats. The heads of the House do
not want the original blood to be diminished
by outsiders.

Background: This House originates from
a loner by the name of Sol. He was never bested
in a duel, even upon joining the clan, and he
went on to become a legend in the eyes of
House Helios. Sol became one of the best
knights in all the clan, vowing to protect his
House and the current Queen till his last breath.

Characteristics: Cats of this House are
renowned for their skills in battle. They focus
their training on perfecting intricate moves,
and they are extremely loyal to the Crown.
They can be seen training from sunup to
sundown, and they are often the ones to
initiate duels against other Houses to gain
honor and respect within their family. Many
members of this family have a history of
becoming Hands to the Queen or King,
protecting the clan system with tooth and
claw. The Family respects fair duels and
does not believe in killing their enemies.

Background: House Tyrell originated
with a foreigner from a far-off land
that spoke of a strange tribe. The
visitor brought endless knowledge
on herb medicinal uses and battle
strategies. The strange feline
became a teacher to the clan.

Characteristics: House Tyrell contains
some of the most intelligent members
of the clan to this day. This House
is renowned for taking up positions
requiring lots of skill, like maesters.
They are the peacemakers of the
clan, and they seek council with
one another to make difficult
decisions. They are one of the
most respected Houses, though
they can be a bit snobby about
their heritage. House Tyrell
shuns ignorance and stupidity.

Background: The original Heads of House Stark
came from a far-off land where the sky
rained with white powder. They spoke of
the intense cold and intense struggles their
group faced before washing up on the shore.
They were accepted as nobles in the new
clan.

Characteristics: Members of House Stark
have a tendency to keep to themselves. Their
House has never held a position as King or
Queen due to being the newest House.
They are very mysterious, and the Family
is tightly-knit when it comes to secrets.
Members stand bold and fierce, refusing
to back down in even the toughest situations.
They have an undying instinct for survival,
being careful to watch food supplies. They
are eager to prove themselves in the clan.
They make strong warriors and hunters,
representing a growing House of Honor.

High King/Queen
The High King/Queen is the equivalent to a leader.
Their word is law over the clan, and they have the power
to grant high positions, decide alliances or enemies, handle
punishments, plan events, initiate attacks, and much more.

Hand of the King/Queen
The Hand of the King/Queen is equivalent to a deputy.
They have many of the same powers as the King/Queen;
however, they cannot handle alliances and promotions.
If there happens to be no Crown Prince/Princess,
then they will assume the throne at the time
of the Queen/King's death.

The Crown Prince/Princess
The Crown Prince/Princess is the heir to the throne.
They hold the same powers as the Hand of the King/Queen,
except they will take the throne upon the death of
the King/Queen. They must be of the same House as
the King/Queen, unless adopted or previously houseless.

Wardens
Horizonclan is divided into the four cardinal directions,
such as North, South, East, and West. A Warden holds
dominion over one of these regions. They hold the
power to assign Lords/Ladies, hold events, accept
invitations, suggest promotions, and punish rule
breakers within their dominion. There is a Warden
for each House. If someone is not able to serve in
the position any longer, the King/Queen will
appoint a new one.

Maester
Maesters are equivalent to medicine cats.
The Maesters are one of the most respected positions
in the clan because of their incredible knowledge
on herbs. Their word is very important during meetings,
and they are often the wisest. They can also be
efficient in battle strategies, though rarely fight
themselves. Maesters mentor acolytes when they
are ready to take on an apprentice.

Lords/Ladies
Lords/Ladies are nobility in the clan that
are renowned for their service. They are sworn to the
Warden of their House, and then the High King/Queen.
They are allowed to hold events, offer advice, and
punish rule breakers within their domain. Their
titles can be taken away in case of inactivity or crime.
They are assigned by the Warden.

Nobles
These are members of the clan that
are honored for their accomplishments. They have
the power to hold events and to make sure the
laws of the land are being followed. They can
be assigned by all high powers.

Acolytes
Acolytes are equivalent to medicine
cat apprentices. They are trained by the Maesters.
They are typically viewed as very intelligent, and
the clan shows undying respect for the work
they do in learning herbs and battle strategies.


Elders
Elders are the oldest members of
the clan. They are often looked up to, and they
must be treated with the utmost respect. The
Squires often tend to their needs.

Knights
Knights are equivalent to the warriors
in the clan. The eldest knight is typically seen as the
most experienced and wisest. They are the
fighting force of the clan. They train the Squires
in the area of fighting and hunting.

Squires
Squires are equivalent to the
apprentices in the clan. Kits become squires
at the age of six moons, and are usually
finished with their training by twelve moons.
They are given the job of tending to the
Elders, Maidens, and Kits.

Maidens
Maidens are equivalent to the
queens of the the clan. They are she-cats that
are expecting kits. They are taken care of by
the Squires, and must be treated with respect.
They sometimes adopt other kits into their
House.

Kits
Kits are the children of the
clan. They are raised by the maidens until
they are six moons, where they then
become squires.

Wanderers
These are equivalent to loners in
the clan. They must be confronted when found
on the territory. If not dangerous or threatening,
then they may be invited to join the clan as
houseless.

Territory

Horizonclan lives on the present day island of Andros. It is
known by the clan as Isla Nublar, and they labeled their
territory as Parakeet Bay. They live within the shelter of
a cove. A cove is a small, sheltered bay, and it is
surrounded by jutting cliffs. The cliffs provide a lot of
protection from storms, though the area is susceptible to
flooding. The clan spends most of its time on the sandy
beach, fishing in the shallow waters near the shore,
and climbing the nearby cliffs to search for birds
and other prey. There is a rock arch that juts out into
the sea as well. This arch is sacred to the clan, and
young squires must climb to the top of the arch and sit
vigil there before they can become knights. Past the cliffs
surrounding the cove, there are miles of thick, hilly fields
covered in sparse grasses and flowers. Rabbits are abundant
here, along with mice and other small mammals, but the clan
usually fishes for its main source of food.
The clan is not aware of the presence of a tribe in the area.
The tribe is known as the Tribe of the Black Pearl, and they live
about two hours away on a peninsula called Shipwreck Peninsula.
They have had no contact from the tribe as of yet, though there
have been legends about a strange group of cats living within
a ship there. The tribe's main thread can be found here.
The tribe and the clan will hopefully interact with each other
in the near future. This map shows where Parakeet Bay is located;
however, it depicts the peninsula that the opposing tribe is on.
It will be updated in the future for the clan, but this gives a
general location: here.

Religion

Horizonclan does not have a set religion in place. Members are free to believe what they would like, but some of the more popular beliefs involve their ancestors watching over them from above. Horizonclan is more-so connected with the physical world around them, thanking the land and sun for providing bountiful feasts and other luxuries. House Tyrell is the most closely connected with a "spiritual world", and they discredit the other Houses for their lack of faith. The Maesters sometimes receive signs, but it is unknown who sends them. The signs are typically very cryptic, like a strange pattern on leaves, weird rock formations, cloud shapes, and much more. Maesters can usually interpret these signs.
