River tilted his head, "Well, if you say so," he said, twitching his whiskers. He didn't think the humans put out wet food for strays. Perhaps it was actually decent--although he thought he'd always prefer prey over anything.

P Y R I T E

Pyrite purred warmly. “Yeah, it’s great. If you came to my house, maybe you could have some...” he offered hopefully.

River sat down and tilted his head, "Well... I've never been in a house before. It always seems so... cramped," he wrinkled his nose and looked up, "How can you live without being able to smell the outside fresh air?"

P Y R I T E

”Well,” Pyrite mewed calmly. ”You don’t have to come inside. If you just wait in my yard, I could get my owners to come.” The idea of River coming to see his owners intrigued him.

"Well," River said with a small hum, "That sounds fine," he got to his feet, his tail waving lazily, "Would you like to lead the way?" he asked. River didn't like the idea of meeting humans but as long as it got him food--and good food, judging by what Pyrite said about it, he'd bear it.

P Y R I T E

Pyrite nodded his head and purred, tail in the air. He calmly walked through the wet street and leapt up on his fence, and back down into his yard. Making sure Fiver got over the fence too, he padded up to the door and meowed loudly at it. A few moments later, one of his owner came out, making happy noises and petting his head. He watched as the human carefully reached forward towards River, letting him sniff their hand.

River landed lightly over the fence and watched with slight intrigue as Pyrite called for his owner. A male human stepped out, making happy noises as he pet Pyrite, then exclaimed as he saw River. River tensed, skirting away for a moment as the human bent down, holding out his hand. He saw Pyrite watching him and he steeled himself. The human couldn't be that bad if the housecat was living with him. River stretched his neck forwards and tentatively sniffed at the human's hand, wrinkling his nose as he smelled the inside of the house on him, as well as something clean and acrid that made his nose sting.

Pyrite watched excitedly as his human made contact with River. River sniffed his hand, and his human reached forward and gently petted his head, making calm purring noises at the stray. Meanwhile, Pyrite rubbed up against his human’s legs, purring loudly.

River hissed as the human pet him, the fur on his neck bristling as he took quick steps back, warily glaring between the housecat and his owner. He shuddered slightly, the strange feeling of the human's bare skin lingering on the ends of his fur, making his lips curl. The human made a chidding, disappointed noise as River took another step back. Sure, he wanted to try the food that the housecat spoke of, but this was asking too much of him.

Pyrite looked at River sternly. ”He’s not going to hurt you. He’s just saying hello.” He mewed, rubbing up against his human’s leg. Giving Pyrite a small pet, the human went back inside the house before returning with a small can of wet foot, which he set down by the stray.
