River blinked, surprised by the warm reaction he received from the housecat. Perhaps he'd have to stop referring to the tom as the "housecat" and actually by his name. River glanced over to the side, trying to remember what his name was. Pyrite. Something he had never heard before, but not too hard to remember--Pyrite.

Just then, a large raindrop plopped down on Pyrite’s nose. With a hiss, he lurched upwards, pawing at his muzzle. He hated the rain, and usually never went out when it was wet outside.

River's whiskers twitched as he watched Pyrite react harshly to the rain. It was obvious he wasn't accustomed to the dampness that stray cats learned from a young age to deal with. They didn't love it, of course, but no one got as bothered as this housecat did, especially when the rain was almost negligible as it was now.
"Not used to the water?" he asked, amusement lining his voice.

Pyrite grumbled and wiped the water off his nose. ”I just dont like when I get a raindrop on my nose, for obvious reasons.” he huffed, fluffing up his fur.

"Understandable," River said, the amused shine not faded from his eyes. He paused, before he asked something he had been wondering for quite a while, "Do your humans actually wash you?" he asked, voice laced with disgust, "If they do, dear heavens, why?"

Pyrite shuddered, not wanting to think about it. ”Sometimes...if I get really muddy or dirty they do.” he said bitterly. He hated when they washed him, even though he loved his owners.

River wrinkled his nose and shook his head, "I can't imagine standing getting wet on purpose," he said. His stomach let out a complaint again--louder this time. "I'm sorry," River sighed, glancing over to the trash bags, disgust rising in his throat slightly. He would have preferred a fat mouse or a pigeon, but neither were up and about in this rain, "Would you mind having this conversation over anything to eat? I haven't had the chance since it started raining days ago."

Pyrite nodded, he liked food. ”I’ve already had my food today, but it would be interesting to try some prey.” He mewed, looking around to see if there were was any prey nearby.

River wrinkled his nose and shook his head, "There's no prey running around here because of the rain. Perhaps in the forest, but that's further than I want to go for food," he glanced over to the trash cans, spying one that was slightly open. He could smell chicken in it and that was the best he could ask for, "I'll settle for the human's trash."

Pyrite looked uncomfortably at the trash bins. ”There’s food in there?” he asked. He has never really noticed his owners putting any food in their own bin.
