Can't rename pets

Why would you want to delete your pets? Many people (including myself) would be happy to take unwanted pets off your hands. Or you could send them to the pound.

well because i adopted a dog, and the button ADOPT ME wasnt loading, so i clicked it again..
so CS adopted the same dog same name TWICE. =/

Believe it or not a lot of people do that on purpose. Since each dog has many possible outcomes a lot of people adopt the max, all under the same name. The pups are still different though and will most likely grow to look different. Having the same name isn't a bad thing and once this is fixed you will be able to change that. But each pup still has its own unique ID. The only pets it makes any sense to delete are horses, butterfly wolves (the ones up now), and cats (none of these from the Advent calender though) because they each only have one variation and you can adopt them right now. That might change someday though, and the pound will still take them and someone will adopt them. Deleting pets is sad and it is usually best to try to avoid that because someone else might like the pet you want to delete. You never know.

I'm getting the same rename error, since I tried to rename a couple of new pets. When I hit rename the same message shows up behind the web graphics on the rename page:

And then it returns an error message when I click Rename. I'm relieved to see this problem isn't just my computer, and I'm glad that word is getting around. I hope it's fixed soon!

it isn't for me. it looks like it loops back, i try to rename the pet and nothing happens, i just get sent back to the rename page with the old name still there.

Press refresh on your pet page to see the new name.
