Periodic Table of Elementals: Betrayal

Prologue

They were blowing bubbles, and suddenly a huge one was blown. It surrounded Clarissa and Declaration, and they both began freaking out crazily. Clarissa pounded against the firm walls, and Declaration ran around madly. Soon Clarissa had one of her small temper tantrums, and her friend broke down sobbing. They continued floating up into the clouds, and Clarissa punched the bubble again, but it held steadfast. The two kept on crying, until somehow the bubble seemed to roll around and didn't go higher; instead it went towards the heart of Darkness Forest. The friends hiccuped, giggled, and screamed with horror all at once, and the bubble suddenly rushed into the forest. The last things Clarissa and Declaration saw were a bleeding dark-haired man, an oily red-haired man with glowing yellow eyes leaving the clearing, and other children their age also in bubbles in groups of two...

What Happened With the Men...

It is raining. The oily-haired man crouches down but makes no move of leaving. Instead, he picks up a stick and his one visible eye (as the other one is covered by his amber hair) glows madly with excitement, burning a bright yellow. He scratches a few random signs in the mud and hisses, “Dmitri, stop hiding. The Gods' decree had said for this to happen, and so be it.”
A dark-haired man steps out. He is clutching one arm which is bleeding, and he hobbles to the first man. He blankly watches the crouching man.
“Dmitri, give them to me, now.” The oily-haired man says.
“Dan, what use do you exactly have for them? Because I see none.” Dmitri's blank look hardens with anger.
“The jars. Now. Give them to me.” Dan holds out his hand. When Dmitri doesn't move, he snaps his fingers impatiently. A crooked grin spreads across Dmitri's face. He takes out a jar of glowing green plutonium. Dan reaches out to grab it, but Dmitri quickly unscrews the lid and empties the jar. The plutonium sizzles and becomes an infant wrapped in a blanket close to fire. He does this to every other jar. Each one becomes a wrapped baby in or near something different – a baby floating in water, one snuggled tight in a bush covered with leaves, one at the most windy spot, one in an odd ice cave that had just appeared, and one at the brightest spot, all of them still in the clearing. As Dmitri is about the unscrew the lids of a shadow and sparks of electricity, Dan grabs the jars and stuffs them in his pocket. Dmitri gulps, for he knows that Dan's cloak is thick with magic from the Dark side.
“Will you take these, too? I think not, brother. Farewell.” Dan skips off to wherever he lives. Dmitri kneels down and looks at all of the tiny infants that were once children he cherished that, as he knew, would die if he hadn't Changed them. Slowly, he fades into the night knowing two things: He would have to rescue the two jars from his brother, and the infants here were safe from the Darkness. Dmitri would just have to wait until they were old enough...

Chapter One

School is simply boring. I mean, yes, I am an high honor student, but it's boring. Everyone always bugs me and teases me about being such a good student and the “teacher's pet”, but teachers... hate me? I think that would be the best word. Loathe could work, too.
But anyway, all I wanted to happen was that the school would burn down or something. Indeed, it did happen in a way.
Sadly, not in the way I planned or even hoped for.
Should I start from the beginning? That's sounds right.
I was born somewhere and I was an orphan. A bunch of other babies like me were also in the clearing. Everyone got adopted, and it just happens to be that we were in the same school and orphanage. I always got straight A's just like all of the other children in the spot I was found. Now, to what's happening. Well, sorta.
Two agents came into my boarding school not long before... I flooded my school. It happened just when I was in the middle of gym class and wanting water badly. Somehow, it began raining over me, just a little sprinkle at first, but soon enough it was a huge storm and the school flooded. The agents were able to get the principal and my adopted parents to agree to take me to some weird academy thing to “teach me not to use illusions”.

The first person other than the staff that I met was Vivek Ignis, and he was one of the orphans like me. He was nearly eleven, a year older than me, but he was so small I would've thought he was only seven or eight. He was intensely short with, almost literally, jet black hair and brown eyes that seemed to be like fire. One of the agents made us lay down on cots and put our heads into helmets. They pressed a button, and I soon blacked out physically, but not mentally. Thoughts and weird words swirled on me, and they overwhelmed me. I plucked at each one, but only one would actually clear up, and the others followed it in a neat line.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When I woke up, it was night and I knew more things: I was a Water Elemental, something I would never have thought of before. Actually, that would just count to one thing, right?
One of the staff came in and escorted us out. We continued talking, and then we had to read a very long book. We both finished quickly, I a little bit before him, and soon there was a video we watched. Both explained what Elementals were and exhibited how this institute worked.
A week later, another girl came. Her name was Declaration Independence Enforcements. She was another Fire Elemental, like Vivek. She was a short girl with long blond hair and brown eyes. For some reason, one instinct freaked me out the most.
Déjà vu of meeting Declaration before.

Chapter Two

The next day, we explored campus. We were staying at a building called the Bubble Hall which held the Bubble House that slept on the eighth floor, and this information probably meant we were the Bubble House. What was a House? Unless of course, it was like Harvard's Houses... Each room looked somewhat alike to the map I drew below.

((Image not uploaded... Go find the 404 Ninja Clan.))

And, of course, we had to have a “student” before us who wasn't an Elemental. She was a sprite-thing, or more like a nerdy I-don't-know-what-species-but-something-like-a-sprite which had a name, a Dyrr. She had already read all of the books, so we didn't need an agent as we traveled around. The bubbly, friendly little Dyrr was named Cerulea, possibly after her cerulean-colored eyes and much lighter hair. And her attire. She was about 4 and a half inches tall.
Where had she come from? Well, I found something sorta squishy when I tried to put the alarm clock off... I guess she jumped on the off button or something, since that was how I found her...

The Academy actually owned an amusement park named Illusion. Sadly, it was closed. But it was supposed to be pretty big. Or so Cerulea said.

Eventually we found a Dippin' Dots stand, and we had to use our Academy ID in order to buy the ice creams for free. The concession stand person there was a sketchy, shady man with a blatant, pouting face. His eyes were almond-shaped but much longer and slitted.
Cerulea waited for us to finish while sitting on the trash can edge. She told us it took a lot of energy for a young Dyrr like her to float for several minutes at once, so she was stocking it up while we were eating because apparently we were going somewhere far-ish. We all quickly finished because we were excited to go wherever she was telling us to go.

As it turned out, she lead us to the Garden of Harmony, which was HUGE and in a circle shape. It covered fourteen square miles and was actually a labyrinth in a way. The “walls” were twelve feet tall bushes that were neatly and perfectly trimmed. The colors matched so well that even orange and dark green looked nice. And normally it's ugly.

Suddenly, I realized Dec was missing. Where was she? My head spun for a few moments before I gained myself and told Vivek and Cerulea that Dec was missing. We ran around every corner for a couple of minutes before we finally found her in the center of the Garden, sitting and petting a fat cow that was chewing on grass. She had wandered off and ended up in the center.
The cow was pure white and its tummy drooped down, its udders almost touching the grass. But then again, it was quite a short cow... However, its width and height did not correspond.

Dec turned to us, absolutely excited. "IT'S AN ENCHANTED COW!!!" She shouted gleefully and looked back at it.
"What?" Vivek hissed at her.
"It's an enchanted cow. It's supposed to be a singing dragon, but a weird person came and switched it with the fake singing dragon over there." She pointed to a dragon in the clearing that I had not noticed. It looked annoyed and tried to sing but instead a loud croak came out of it.
"And what are you doing?" I asked, clamping my hands over my ears until the racket ended.
"We need to get it to switch with the singing dragon that should be this cow." She said, jumping up and down while still kneeling.
"How?" I asked.
"We have to help it jump over the sun. The average black cow jumped over the moon, the enchanted white cow must jump over the sun. And the sun will set soon." Dec pointed her head wildly in the direction of the sun.
"And?"
"We form a circle around the cow, and throw our Element at it!"
"...Is that really going to work?"
"Yes!" She looked at me with huge brown eyes. "If one Elemental with two Elements that were really weak could do it, we can too!"
I took in a breath and held it there for a while before puffing out my cheeks. "I'm in."
"So am I!" Vivek yelped.
"Great!" Dec held out her hands, and we took them to form a triangle-circle-thing around the cow.

And so, the enchanted white cow jumped over the sun, changing into its true form - a singing dragon.

Chapter Three

The next two of the Bubble House to arrive were Ada Lem and Yogurt Pie.
"Hello. I'm Ada Lem."
"Hiomigoshamigonnastaywithyouthisyear?!?!!!!??? I'mYogurtPiebutpleasecallmeYGnicetomeetyou!!!!"

(Translation without crazy punctuation: "Hi omigosh! Am I gonna stay with you this year? I'm Yogurt Pie, but please call me YG. Nice to meet you!")

Wow.
What an oddball!
Bouncing around insanely, Yogurt Pie/YG abruptly stopped and did a triple back tuck-thing.
She's... weird. But quite a flexible gymnast!
Ada was scooting away from the spazzing blob. I walked over to her.
"When... When she's sugar high, you just have to-" Ada broke off as Yogurt Pie jumped up to me and started jumping up and down, clapping her hands wildly.
"CAN WE BE ROOMMATES, CLARISSE OR WHATEVER YOUR NAME IS??? LIKE, DORMIES? OR ROOMIES? PLEASE?!!!?!?"
"Calm down," I giggled, "You'll have to learn about yourself and Elementals. Besides, it's only one per room because Elements may clash, along with genders."
Yogurt Pie suddenly stopped and nodded.
"Come on," she said soberly to Ada without even the tiniest twitch of a smile or twinkle of laughter in her eyes, "We should learn."

When they emerged from the History Room (you know, that one where we find out about our past life), Yogurt Pie was completely shocked and Ada... looked like she already knew it all. They were sent around the academy and finally, we got to boss them around. Well, not exactly. It was more like introducing ourselves to the close, so much unalike friends in a way, even though they already knew our names.

In my dormitory-room (because Vivek was trying to kill things like rats and making poisons with mercury, Dec (Declaration) was trying to make explosive mercury with plutonium, and the newcomers still had to set up their rooms), YG/Yogurt Pie was gorging down...

SUGAR CUBES!!!

"How many do you eat as a snack?!" I asked/shouted.
"Fuh fuhreh fifafi foo," YG mumbled around the sugar cubes.
"...Huh?" Dec was watching YG madly wolf down the sugar cubes and winced every time another one was shoved in the mouth.
"Four-hundred gigantic cubes," YG answered after swallowing. Shoving more in the cave, she added, "But that's only a small snack."
"SMALL?!?!?!!!??? Even I don't eat THAT much!" Vivek exclaimed.
"You should see how many she eats in a meal... And she never exercises..." Ada said quietly.
"How many in a meal?" I asked her.
“About 3,600 gigantic sugar cubes, but for the regular-sized ones she'll eat something more like 5,000 cubes."
"5,000???!!! HOLY MOLY THAT IS A LOT!!!" Dec nearly screamed. Ada shrugged.
"All she eats is sugar cubes, but sometimes she'll eat other junky sweets too."
"But how does she stay fit?" I cut in before Dec could flip out again. Ada shrugged once more.
"Maybe when she touches the sugar it becomes healthy," Vivek suggested from across the room. We looked over, and Dec almost doubled over laughing. To this day, I still cannot describe the hilariousness fully, for I will always roll over screaming with laughter before I finish, but here's a quick description.
YG had an utterly crazed expression on her face (while still stuffing more sugar cubes in her mouth), and Vivek was holding her down so she couldn't jump through the ceiling. It looked like she was vibrating, but the look on her face - oh! How silly it was!
After the ruckus and YG stopped vibrating, we sat in silence for a while, watching nothing in particular. YG suddenly jumped up and slapped her hands against the ceiling. She kept jumping and shoving, until suddenly the ceiling gave way and it opened.
Bubbles floated above us to an extent of nothingness. I jumped up, trying to get in, and ended up hitting a small green button labeled, "Ladder". A ladder came down, and I climbed up, looking around me.

Bubbles... A sketchy breeze... Bubbles... A bubble mix bottle...

Suddenly, my vision started swirling and fogged out. I was sucked into some sort of black hole (I couldn't quite see very well at the moment), and was left unconscious.

I woke up to find the others laying in a circle around me, facing the inside of the circle. There were also three others I didn't recognize, and one - a skeleton was facing the outside. A traitor I didn't know.
But the circle...
It was THE Circle, determining the Leader of a House. As you know, the Leader was always in the center, and all of the House would be facing the inside, where the Leader was, except for any traitors.
And there was one – it was dead.
I gasped. I was the Leader of the Bubble House?! No way! I wasn't even the FIRST to arrive of the Bubble House, I wasn't even the oldest! But then, I was the second to arrive, second oldest, first girl to arrive, oldest girl...
It all added up to one thing, and I shook myself. No... Why did it have to be this way?
Vivek liked killing. I was more peaceful. I didn't like that vicious gore as much.
I was the Leader of a dead traitor.
What could be done? No bribing could be possible. I couldn't flip it over, it was impossible.
The other boy that I didn't know who had branches curling around him like Ada, an Earth Elemental, twitched and opened his eyes wide, meeting them with my blue-black ones. The hazel familiarity cut into me though I had never seen those honey-hazel eyes before, and I felt like something was trying to attack me to find my secrets, and then heal me again.
"You're scared of being Leader. You're scared of leading a traitor that is dead. It's okay. I'll find its secrets for you." His voice was high and wispy, and it made me think - Merltin. I don't know why.
"Who... Who..." I wasn't able to finish voicing my question, because suddenly the vision faded and I was sitting on a bubble chair with the others in front of me. The cadaver-traitor, the boy of Water, and "Merltin" had disappeared, and only the ones I knew were left.
They, however, were no longer in a circle. They were randomly scattered about on the bubble we were on. Dec, Ada, and YG began stirring and soon woke, and Vivek was already running around, probably trying to find something to attack Dec with. Wait, what? How did I know this? Oh, right. There were shouts of “What to attack Deck the Hall with?! Boughs of holly!” in the background.
"Did... Did any of you dream of the Circle?" I quietly asked. They turned to me and stared in awe as they slowly nodded.
"You were in the center... You're the Leader!" Dec suddenly jumped to her feet and clapped, and the other two girls followed her action. Vivek stopped and ran over to us, also clapping.
"We'll find the others faster now! We only need the Water, the Wind, and the Earth!" Ada gleefully shouted. Whoa, Ada was suddenly hyper?
"YEAHYEAHEYAH!!!" YG shrieked.
"But..." I quietly began, and left it hanging.
"What?" Dec asked softly.
"There's a traitor. And it's dead."
I may have not told you this, but Cerulea had said that when there was a dead traitor it meant...
Figures that haunted the world would once again come to torture the living, and the traitor would come back to life.

He stares into the pool with loathing and malice before drawing a symbol in the thick, swampy mud. If only Dan could see him now. His father would be proud of him, even though he despised children and named his child a horrid, dull name. Everything would be so much better.
He stands to his full height, flapping his wrist so that the mud would come off. Hopefully he had come at the right time and drew at the right place. He growls incoherent lowly before drawing a circle in the air with his left hand and pulling it towards him with his right hand – the sign of evil-casting.
“Nosshtyms imoyn nommus i.”
A figure begins to rise, and the tall man shrieks the words to the full moon over and over again. Eventually the figure is full and the tall man shouts, “Stirips kclab uoy knaht!” while raising his arms to the silky whiteness of the moon. Slowly the figure that had risen makes his way through the murky waters of the swamp and taps the tall man's head, lowering his arms.
“So you are real. You are to be my servant. Destroy certain people and I shall reward you greatly before returning you to the Corral.”
The figure nods.
“I believe you know your name. However, fake it as the feminine version of your name spelled backwards, otherwise the children you are to destroy may find your cover.”
Another nod.
“Gain their trust and destroy them, or at least their emotions. You are to come here every night under the branches of the willow on the side that currently faces the full moon. Do not come on new moons. Understand?”
One last nod, and the two leave in different directions.

Chapter Four

"Yuck! Turkey? Ewww!!!" I watched, disgusted, as Dec shoved more and more turkey into her mouth.
"Turkeys were once chickens, but they decided to be ugly and disgusting to eat," Vivek began announcing, "So if you breed a turkey with a chicken, it comes out as a turkey since the turkey's yuckiness is dominant over a chicken's okay-ness. Even though there are turkens, they're really turkeys in disguise."
"Hmph?" Dec asked, swallowing.
"Don't repeat it..." I muttered to Vivek. He shrugged and danced off to somewhere. I think he may have ran away into Vivek World, or his dorm.
Ada sighed and turned away.
"Since there's nothing else we can do except for wait until the rest of the Bubble House comes since we have to train together, let's check out some weapons." She said irritably.
I nodded, and yelled up the stairs, "VIVIAN get down here!" I had recently decided to call Vivek “Vivian” since it annoys him.
Immediately, a small blur came down the stairs.
"We need to go search for weapons" was all Ada said before she turned and lead us to the armory, which was on the Grand Centrum hall, floor four. Dec was carrying lots of turkey and wolfed it down. Yuck.

The armory was AMAZING!!! It had all sorts of things - Food, swords, shields, fans, umbrellas, maces, crossbows, bows and arrows galore. In fact, more.

My attention was turned to the fans. I browsed that area. There were bladed fans, Elemental fans, and normal fans...
I selected a tastefully colored bladed, crystal-like pair of blue fans. They opened like tessens and were AWESOME.

Looking over at Dec, she seemed to be having a hard choice picking one from either a red one with dragon wings at the end of the hilt and a red one with a bland hilt and four blades. She looked at me, hoping for a suggestion.
"The one with dragon wings," I decided. Four blades was sketchy. I also helped her decide on a shield.

I noticed YG already had picked out a toolbox of everlasting cookies, though the cookies weren't edible. Ada had quickly chosen bows and arrows. For some reason, everyone was suddenly staring at the door.

Slowly, I turned around to see Vivek with a totally insane, twisted expression on his face, swinging around a mace, aiming at Declaration...

WATCH OUT!!!” Vivek yelled. He continued running wildly, swinging around his mace. Dec ducked, and I jumped over, pulling her away from the dangerously swinging mace. The spiked sphere crashed into a large shelf and unraveled...
A small door, just barely large enough for one of us to get through. So he nearly risked the lives of his teammates to get a tiny door?!!??!
Dropping the mace, Vivek slumped down to the floor.
“S-sorry. It's just... The door called out to me. It told me to smash those shelves and run through the door.”
I shrugged and helped him up, giving back his mace as a few agents and several students ran in. The agents began flipping out.
“WHY did you destroy this shelf? Now HOW will the OTHER STUDENTS get WEAPONS for themselves? Eh?”
I pointed to the door stoically and their gaze followed to where I was pointing.
The door.
“You found a portal! It's the tenth portal we have!” A short, rather chubby agent began dancing.
“Not a portal. It's a tunnel, remember. Portals are found in tunnels.” This was a tall, stick-like agent with such a posture and air of importance.
“Yeah, so?” The chubby one said. I noticed a gold name tag on him: “CJ”.
“There's a difference. The tunnels are shortcuts to worlds close to Earth and areas near Earth. Portals are for further worlds and countries, such as Nog Pi Land and Churri Land.” The tall man's name tag read, “ZZA”.
Turning to us, ZZA asked, “Has any of you had the Leader dream yet? Who was in the center?”
My teammates looked at me, and meekly I raised my hand.
“Me.”
Grumbling, ZZA added, “I haven't seen this House yet. Why?”
“This is our second week together. Our team isn't finished yet. We have a Wind Elemental, an Earth Elemental and a Water Elemental left.” Thinking of the dream and how the skeleton was a traitor, I lowered my head, staring at my shoes.
“What?” ZZA asked sharply.
“N-nothing...” I stuttered.
“But anyway, since everything's been cared for, let's go.” ZZA and CJ shooed the students and each other out of the armory. Once again, we were alone.
“Hello? Is this the Bubble House?” Turning around, we saw a boy with brown hair and honey-hazel eyes.
The boy from my dream!
“You're the other Earth Elemental!” Ada squealed. Obviously she noticed; Elementals of the same type can sense each other and speak in each others' minds.
“Yes.” He turned to me and added, “By the way, Clarissa, let me tell you that I have many more than five senses, the only thing sacrificed for all those extra senses and sharpened senses is my sight. But that's all right, I can hear well enough to guess where everyone and everything is. I hope I can be an exclusive member of the Bubble House, maybe not quite the Secretary or Peacemaker, though. Also, I can actually see sometimes by taking one of the extra senses and temporarily sacrificing it for sight. However, usually I feel I do not need sight.”
For some reason, I realized that his voice was nothing like the dream. The dream had his voice high and dazed, almost, but here he sounded down-to-Earth and with a slight Cockney accent. He had been talking about that Water Elemental boy traitor-
Why did all of us remember the dream fully and clearly?

“So, you have indeed followed my directions.”
The voice startles the small boy.
“And you have also taken a shape instead of your obvious true form.”
The boy nods.
“Can you speak?”
“Yes.”
“Then do so. Your personality should be cheerful. Win them over.”
“You have told me to do so already. I am at least loyal enough to you that I follow your instructions on a night that is not a full moon. Be glad of this, for that most others would refuse to do so.” He smiles and cocks his head.
“I have not been here for a while. Apparently they have new money. Where have nobles and crowns gone? Why have they been replaced with cheap pieces of green paper? Why copper-plated pieces of metal? Why?”
“People have been stooping lower and lower. Here, take some dollar bills and change.” The tall man holds out a black leather wallet to the boy.
“Do not lose this. Do not spend unwisely. You should be able to understand soon. Also, do not show any person your nobles ad crowns. Always come back and inform me of all things you have seen.”
“I promise. I will.”

Chapter Five

I chewed on my hair thoughtfully. Soon we were to meet another House, the Talisman House, because they wanted to meet us.
But why was I so nervous?
The two most popular boys of the academy – Lucas and Scepter – were inviting us to meet them, along with the rest of their group. They would most probably spread bad rumors about us or something, which wouldn't be good. Cordelia and Adelaide would almost definitely do that. The last four were Neirin, Jefferey, Khris, and Anneliese. Via rumors, Anneliese followed Cordelia and Adelaide, Neirin and Jeffrey were normal, and Khris... was mostly an outsider.
The most popular two also happened to be Leader and Secretary. I winced; perhaps I should appoint one soon. Vivek was the first to arrive, but he didn't seem good. I barely knew Merltin, and Ada and YG probably kept some secrets. That left one – Dec. And I didn't want to be blamed for choosing her because she was my best friend.
Sighing, I put my head down and looked up again to check my clock. In two minutes, we would have to be in the atrium. I got out of my seat and knocked on the others' doors, and we ran to the Grand Centrum hall, floor seven.
We made it exactly three seconds before the intercom called, "Bubble House, please come to Gate 12."
As we slowly approached the Talisman House, I noticed Cordelia and Adelaide were trying not to giggle, and Lucas was watching me with a curious look which suddenly snapped to attention and developed a mischievous grin.
"Hey! As you probably know, we're the Talisman House. I'm Lucas, the Leader. Our secretary is Scepter," here he motioned to one of them and continued with great valor, "Our Peacemaker is Khris, and the others are Cordelia, Neirin, Jefferey, Adelaide, and Anneliese."
"I'm Clarissa... We don't have a Secretary or Peacemaker yet. This is Declaration, Vivek, Merltin, and Yogurt Pie who prefers to be called YG."
"Well, we should get in the room." Lucas pointed at the meeting room. I nodded, and everyone followed him in.
We ended up just showing each other our Elements. Lucas was Water, along with Cordelia. Scepter and Adelaide were Fire, Jefferey and Anneliese were Wind, and Neirin and Khris were Earth.
A perfectly normal group... I noted, and realized Lucas was staring at me again with that curious look. I looked away and watched Cordelia and Adelaide whispering to each other, casting looks at everyone once in a while. All I could catch was:
"...Lucas..."
"...She..."
"...Can't..."
"I don't get it!" Cordelia suddenly bawled. "Why?!??!"
We all turned to look at her. She was wailing and yelling, pounding on the table. I tried to think of something that could calm her down.
"Do you want to go to the amusement park?" I asked no one in particular, "Since it's not as fun with just one House, and besides, just we'll get to know each other better."
It actually worked, and Cordelia began to whisper with Adelaide again, though they were flashing plenty of threatening looks at me.

Basically, the park was Canobie Lake Park, but not. It was called Elements (the sign was hidden as "Illusion") and about three times the size of Six Flags. The first ride we went on was the Elemental Clash, just like the Yankee Cannonball but bigger.
Originally, I was going to sit with Dec, but Lucas asked if one of us could sit with Scepter since Scepter's seat was right in front of Cordelia and Adelaide, and they would probably play with Lucas' hair or something. I was about to get up when Dec said the Leaders should have some time to talk. I nodded and I pulled down my black safety bar-thing. Lucas sat next to me and pulled his bar down just as the lap bar came down.
The ride suddenly started and climbed up the 100-foot drop slowly. I gripped the lap bar, my knuckles turning white. Butterflies went crazy, and my adrenaline glands prepared to scream as we reached the summit. It quickly dropped, and I lost most of my feeling, screwing my eyes shut. I was suddenly filled with strength, and I looked up to see Lucas' dark blue eyes.
Are you all right?
I nodded, and slid my hand out from beneath his when the drop was over. Thankfully, the ride ended not much later, though I still had a feeling Cordelia was probably pissed off or something. In the end though, we all just mainly tried food, which was kind of funny considering the fact that the food was from the Academy so we'd already eaten most of the food here. Since there weren't enough seats at a table for everyone, the Houses just split, each using one table.
At one point, Vivek was technically not tall enough to go on a ride, and none of us could pass as adults and anyway, we weren't tall enough. Vivek ended up showing his Elemental ID (hidden as an Illusion School ID). He was finally let in, and the ride was definitely worth the long wait of the line.
Another thing, a huge maze filled with mirrors and clear plastic walls, was really easy. Or so it was for Merltin. We ended up just splitting into Houses, and the Bubble House won since Merltin sensed it extremely easily.
Basically, we just played and ate at Elements, or Illusion, the whole day. What else was there to say?
Cordelia had honey-hazel eyes like Merltin. That was an Earth Elemental eye color.
Not a Water.

“Tonight is the last night you have in this city before I send you off. Is that clear?” The tall figure lectures the boy. He looks to be twelve or thirteen years old.
“Yes, sir.”
“Don't sir me.”
“Yes. I have not bought anything with this useless money.”
“That is not what I am talking about. Keep in your twelve-year-old form and don't be snobby. Act like you really care. Keep coming out at night. I will meet you under the large willow tree by the river outside of the campus. Do not come out on new moons, otherwise...”
“Yes, I understand. Otherwise I shall suddenly be out of this body and back into the Corral.”
“You must go now. I have packed things for you.”
The tall figure hands the boy more money and a backpack.
“This bag here is to be put on your back like this.” He puts it on the boy.
“Do not let anyone go through it. I will be at the Academy; however I will not travel with you. Only allow me to go through your backpack. There is a note in one pocket that you are to read. However, you must rip it up, burn holes in it, fold it up, soak it in water for twenty minutes, and then shred it again. Do not let anyone else read it. Now go.”
The boy bows down to the tall man before turning around and walking away.

Chapter Six

Extremely hyper children blowing bubbles. Bubbles. Just like the Bubble House.
I stared at the window, thinking about the vacant rooms that still had yet to open. A girl and a boy were left. One was a traitor, the other was loyal. One was Water, the other was Wind. Wind. Gravity. Clouds.
I had to appoint a Secretary soon. Vivek was a no-no, Ada and YG were almost definitely keeping secrets. Merltin couldn't be it because I didn't know him well enough, and Dec? She was almost perfect for Secretary, but being blamed for her being my best friend was horrible. Water. Wind. Toxic-something-I-don't-know. Bubble mix. Water.
The Water boy? Well, I didn't know him yet.
Declaration. I would have to appoint her.
Slowly, I got up and out of my room, knocking on Dec's door. She let me in and closed the door, and I told her the news.
"You're the Secretary of the Bubble House."
Her eyes widened and she whispered, "Really?"
I nodded, and she gave off a bright radiance, smiling extremely widely. "Should we go tell the others?"
I nodded again, and we ran out, knocking on the other Bubble House members' doors.
"Dec's the new Secretary!" We told them. They were extremely happy and congratulated her. We collected in my room as to not disturb the lower floors on the Cloud House. Just as we settled down, we heard a knock on the door. I answered it, and guess who was there?! No, not Santa Claus. Osceola? What are you thinking? ME?! How can I answer the door and see myself? Oh, right. A costume or a mirror.
Well, now that your three guesses are over... It was ZZA and CJ holding a tomb. It looked like one of those royal Egyptian sarcophagus-things but without the design. Actually, it was probably a coffin. Was the Wind Elemental dead? Wait – yes, it should be... Or were we burying the dead as a ritual for the Black God, the God of Death?
“Oomph,” CJ grunted, “I guess my Vine Touch doesn't work anymore.” He smiled at us when the coffin was set down. ZZA shot him a dark look that made me realize ZZA was never an Elemental and CJ was a Plant-Earth Elemental-turned-Plain.
“We think it's dead, but sometimes you might hear it yelling, 'Dad! What are you doing!' or something. I'll show you it.”
At this point, ZZA turned away and left while grumbling, “I have work to do...” When he was out of earshot, CJ whispered to us, “He's really just a wussy. Can't stand corpses.” He pushed the coffin in and closed the door.
“Y'know, I really don't know how to open this. Can't find any keys that'll work. Not even bumper keys. Zacharia Zen Application doesn't know this. Y'know, ZZA. We just call him ZZA sometimes. He hate the name Zacharia. I'm CJ, if you didn't notice.” Suddenly his eyes brightened by a lot. “Hey, let's see what you can do! Let's leave the coffin here though.” I shook my head and dragged the coffin out and into the new room. If it was really alive, maybe it would get out. Like, the corpse-thing.
We ended up going to CJ's personal training building, and he told us to say whatever words came to us first and randomly. We wouldn't have turns.
Ada suddenly howled, “Botanical Ambush!” Plants appeared everywhere around us and basically trapped us in a green plant-ish darkness. Sorta. It mostly just trapped us.
Merltin shouted, “Jade Restrainer!” Small, thin green vines came out, spiraling the plants Ada had created. The plants drew back a little.
Vivek screeched, “Luminous Fire!” A little bit of fire came out of the plants but didn't kill them. Instead, it just lit up the room.
Dec yelled, “Ember Shield!” Black-ish force fields appeared around us, protecting us from any harm. Or at least, until water touched it. I think.
YG's shrill call sounded: “Magic Gale!” Since it was somewhat heated in the fire force fields, a light, cool breeze began which felt like an air conditioner and wiped away our perspiration.
I was the only one who hadn't created something here. What was wrong? The Leader couldn't do anything?
I closed my eyes and concentrated on water, a calming effect. Clarissa, it's all right. You know you're great. You can do it!
I took a deep breath and held it. Odd swirls advanced on me, and suddenly the breath I was holding blasted out.
“Twisted Melody!” I shrieked, and suddenly everything created by the others... Sort of turned into molecules that had letters on them indicating what type of molecule they were and disappeared into thin air.
“W-what...?” I asked, dazed. The others, including CJ, kind of just stared at me in complete shock. CJ shook his head and said, “Well, I'll tell you all more about those attacks and defenses you just did...”
We sat down in a semi-circle with him in the center of it.
“Ada, your Botanical Ambush summons plants randomly and it creates a cage or restraint any size you want it to be. It's rather a good attack, but only works if you know where exactly – not something like around Bob – which is pretty much its only con. Unless, of course, you count the fact that it's not exactly part of you, though you can tighten it. It can be used for either defense or attacks, but it's better for attacks.
“Merltin, your Jade Restrainer holds back other plants and some people with small jade-colored vines that seem thin but can really hurt. They're somewhat alike to wires. Their cons are that they can't hold onto people too well and they easily light on fire.
“Vivek, your Luminous Fire lights anything on fire but will not consume it. Instead, it acts as a light. It's actually quite useful when you train hard enough with it, but for now it's not very much.”
At this point, Vivek made a weird, pig-like grunt/scream thing. I do believe it meant he was annoyed that he couldn't attack too much.
“Declaration... Your Ember Shield is a defense mechanism. The only thing that can take it away is Water, and a lot of it. It's pretty useful, but can get pretty sweaty in there.
“Fortunately, Ch – I mean, Yogurt Pie, your Magic Gale cools down anything and calms down. It's a good idea to use Ember shield and put Magic Gale in each of the shields so it won't be too hot inside.”
He just looked at me and furrowed his eyebrows when he got to me.
“I don't know what your Twisted Melody does... It destroys the other Elemetals' creations or something. I've never seen it before.” He shrugged and glanced somewhat wistfully at Dec, who was having a poke war with Cerulea and me all of a sudden. Wait - what?
What did CJ have to do with Dec?
