I live in the wild plains of North Carolina, is what the People call it. Oh, no. I am not a tame horse. I live wild and free.
Chapter one-With The Herd
I raced across the moor until my herd was out of sight. My hooves hit the ground making a large, hollow thump, thump, thump. I raced onwards, aware of the blazing sun prickling at my fur. I suddenly did a quick turn and galloped back toward my home. I stopped in front of my mother, who stomped her hoof and scolded me with a harsh neighhhh. I ducked my head, then turned away from her. I sighed in anger as that annoying Fuego stormed around the herd. Dash, our leader, flicked his tail angerily, aware that Fuego was brainstrorming a plan to take over the herd. Fuego stuck his lip at me, as if I cared! I stomped my hoof and pointedly turned my back on him. I was too old to be treated like a filly, even if I was the youngest one here, along with Night and Storm, of course. They were born around when I was. I trotted over to them and swished my tail hungerily for a race. Night turned her back, but I managed to get Storm intrested. But he saw Night and turned with her too. I galloped away and went charging back and raced very close to his side, which starteled Storm into a run. I acted as if fleeing from danger and roused the herd. Pretty soon Dash and Apple had the herd running along behind me. It was time to find a new grazing sopt. Fuego stormed around but decided to follow, too. Night glanced back and had a confused expression on her face when she saw no danger. I led my herd to a short hill and I splashed to the stream at the top. The rest of the herd hovered uncertianly around the stream, some smacking on willow bark. Dash and Fuego walked up the hill and lashed out at me with angry expressions. They were no dummy-they knew there wann't any danger.
chapter two-in Trouble With The Herd
Dash climbed all the way up and reared his herd together. He trotted down the hill and gathered them to graze. He encouraed them the danger was gone and it was safe to find a new eating and resting spot. My mother, Honey Bird, came up to me sadly. Her expression was clear:we were not in danger. I lowered my head to the ground and Honey Bird turned her back and gathered with her group of friends, Acorn, Snow, and Sunny. She told them what I had done. Snow raced over to Cloud, Skye and Grape and broke the news. The news traveled over the herd and I was flashed angry glances from all the horses. I lowered my self to the ground and sulked. No horse cuddeled up against me;not even Storm or Night! I heard hoofsteps and saw Fuego walking towards me, with a soft look on his face. you have been punished enough;with guilt. Mind me? Fuego trotted over and lay next to me. I closed my eyes, for once glad that Fuego had come to this herd.
chapter Three-A breeze in the winds
I woke startled. I did not reconize where I was. I sighed and closed my eyes as I remembered what happened yesterday. A hard, rough wind blew across my face, slapping it. I stood up and awoke Fuego. He got to his hooves and flicked some flies off my pelt. Since yesterday, we've been cleared up. I told him with a few tail movements and worried looks that it would be time to head to a new winter spot, like the canyons where Dash always led us. They were dry and hot and held much water. Even though Fuego was not the leader, I told him I would tell Dash. At the name of dash, He stuck out his lip and stomped his hoof and sniffed the air, showing he had not one tiny bit of care for the leader. I shrugged at him anyways. Who was he to hate Dash, who's led us safely before he was even born? Before I was even born. I tunred away to tell dash it might be time. Fuego stamped his hoof, not in anger. He turned and continued with his morning gallop around my sleeping herd. I nosed Dash awake, and he wobbled to his hooves. I noted to myself to be careful around him becasue he was getting so old. I gave a soft nicker and a worried glance and he took heed of my worries. I woke up my mother and friends and soon the herd was relaxing in the warm sun, enjoying the breeze. However, I was worried because the weather became freezing fats. After a nice long run I heard a screech of fury. I saw Fuego charging at Dash. I swallowed nervously and knew that Fuego was planning to take over.
