The male was acting agitated and weird; he would charge up and down the aviary with his feathers fluffed, and I don't know if he was courting, defending the nest from a mouse/lizard/dove/other bird I couldn't see, or just being an oddball?

Agro mama! The other two quails walked past the nest (separately, you understand; no cause for jealousy) and she attacked them! The female lay low and took it like a girl, but the male went tearing around the aviary with his angry wife in hot pursuit, hahaha! She was making a grumpy noise, and I'm not going near her anytime soon!

Later:

Girl #2 is laying!! There's a weeny little bowl down the wall from the first nest, with one little egg in it! I have noticed her digging in other places, but since the budgies sometimes helped I just presumed she was foraging!
