Prompt #1

Kade sloshed through the soggy grass of their territory. It had been extremely rainy the past few days and the snow-melt flowing down from the mountains just made things worse. Every dog was cold, soaked to the bone and fed up with one another’s complaining. Kade felt the slick droplets drip off of the trees that arched above his patrol, fall onto his back and roll down his side, sending a ticklish feeling up his belly. He shook out his pelt, showering his patrol members in the water his tan fur was storing. Unfortunately, Sadik was the closest, and the one who got hit the most. “Hey!” He snapped “Why’d you do that? Don’t you ever think of the dogs around you?” Kade was taken aback. He straightened his posture, curled his tail and pinned his ears forward. “Pardon me, Sadik.” He apologized calmly “But I would appreciate it if you could watch your tone. Everyone is sick of the rain. Everyone is miserable. There’s no need to get in a twist over a small matter such as this. You were wet anyways.” Sadik rolled his eyes and pushed past the Head Advisor. “Whatever. You think you’re so high and mighty because your second to the Great Denali.” He barked bitterly, dramatically pronouncing Denali’s name. Kade felt sparks of annoyance blaze within his chest. Did this dog know a thing about respect. “I said watch your tone.” He repeated firmly “I will not tolerate any form of disrespect towards the alpha who was so kind to take us in when we needed it the most. He didn’t leave us for dead like so many others. We are lucky to serve him.” Sadik sat back and flicked his ear, surveying the other dogs on the patrol. Raptor stood protectively beside Clover, whose eyes were as round as the moon in fear and dread. Sighing, the Akita swished his tail. “You’re a suck up, you know that.” He sneered at Kade “You don’t care about anything besides your precious position as Head Advisor.” Kade curled his lip at the black brute in front of him. “Ever since we’ve come here, you’ve been an ungrateful little rat.” Kade spat back “Disrespecting those who deserve your respect. You will apologize now, or else.” Sadik tilted his head. “Or else what?” He coaxed “I’m not scared of a pathetic dog who doesn’t think for himself. Always Denali said this, Denali told you to do that. Who cares?!” Sadik rose to his paws. “I’d do just fine without a pack. I don’t need any of you flea-ridden, mangy-“ He was cut off but Kade plowing into him. The Shepherd full out tackled the black dog, pinning him down and snapping at his ears. His eyes were skits and his calm disposition was tossed into booming authority. “You shall not disrespect your superiors, Sadik!” He growled, voice as deep and loud as thunder “Change your attitude or so help me I will make you an omega do you understand me?” Sadik tried to turn his attacker over, but was to no avail. Kade was larger and had gained a bit more muscle from his training sessions with Ari. Kade pushed a paw down on Sadik’s throat, causing the dog to give a small gurgle. “Do you understand me?” Kade repeated slowly, roar dripping with menace. Sadik only nodded and Kade released him, sending him spluttering back to camp, curled tail between his legs. Kade stood taller than ever. His first use of his Advisor power didn’t go too badly. In fact, his tail was arched high and his muzzle was stuffed up in the air. The picture of triumph. He looked over his shoulder at Raptor and Clover, nodded and continued the walk back home.
