Nᴀᴍᴇ Mᴇᴀɴɪɴɢ:

Rowanflame's mother was raised in a very cruel clan. Upon learning she was pregnant she fled, deciding it would be better to raise her kits on her own than in such a harsh environment. Rowanflame was the only kit from that litter, and was named Rowankit after the tall, strong tree which held their home in it's roots. His mother wanted a name for her lone kit that would inspire him to be strong, a name that would help him remember her and their first home forever.
His mother raised him in the true warrior's code, and even had a makeshift apprentice ceremony for him. Not long after that, Rowanpaw found his mother's body, smelling of fox. After burying her under their rowan tree, he vowed to continue following the warrior's code, and to become a cat his mother would be proud of- strong and proud of his roots.
He ran into Otterstar, then Otterpaw, not long after. Otterpaw and Rowanpaw trained together, and were guided in their dreams by Starclan. Eventually the two toms received their warrior names together, and Rowanpaw was dubbed Rowanflame, in honor of his flaming loyalty and bravery, and in honor of his mother, Roseflame.

meaning:
Bramblefire was born inside a thick patch of thorny bushes.
His mother was a very determined cat and since the clan was
experiencing a time of hardship, she wanted to hunt for her
own prey and to help provide for her clan. Even though she
was in the final days of her pregnancy and others had urged
her not to go out, she went hunting the day her kits were to
be born. They came suddenly, and she was unable to make it
back to camp. Do to complications and the absence of a
medicine-cat, Bramblefire was the only kit to survive. His
mother suffered blood-loss and they were not found until it
was nearly dark. She joined Starclan soon after, but first she
named her kit after the strong brambles that had protected
them until help came. He was raised by another queen and
told constantly about his mother's heroism. He grew to be
just like her and later raced into a burning fire when he was
an apprentice, to rescue a kit who had been caught up inside it.
He was made a warrior the next day with the suffix of fire to
commemorate his bravery and sacrifice. [ 200/200 ]

Dune was born in a tribe that lived near a desert. Her mother, like the other cats of their tribe, took inspiration off of her surroundings. She had two brothers, one that didn't live very long and the other her mother named for the near new moon that glowed in the evening sky. Dune was named for the stark shadows the dunes made in the light of the setting sun, much like her coat. She lived with the tribe most of her life, embracing her name and becoming an excellent hunter and scout for her tribe, traversing the sand skillfully. She was also just as hot tempered as the sands she was born to.

meaning: In Cascadeclan, cats are named in a very specific way ; their first name describes their appearance, their second name is given for either an outstanding physical skill or a notable personality type. Often, they shorten their names to the first part to save time when conversing, using the full name in more formal situations like ceremonies.

Bird's first name is a bit different. Since she came into the clan as a rogue, she already had a name. They pondered a bunch of different first names ; Fallow, Wren, Partridge, Bittern, or maybe even Whimbrel. But something else caught their eye. They couldn't pay attention to her fur for long, as she had this interesting way of walking. She lifted her paws higher than other cats, almost as if she were a bird herself. And this way of walking was surprisingly useful, because it was quieter and fooled the birds into thinking she was one.

At her naming ceremony, she was allowed to keep her name Bird as long as she accepted the suffix -step, which they'd never used since the very early days of the clan. She agreed wholeheartedly, and keeps on strutting around camp with pride in her unique name.

Ripplesky got the first part of his name, ripple, due to the rippling pattern across his pelt. It looks like ripples in the water. And also due to the fact that one night when he was watching the sky as a kit, he noticed ripples and patterns of colour sparkling through the sky. The patterns, according to Alfie, were called the Southern Lights. After he got his Medicine Cat name, the sky symbolised how close he was to Starclan and the tendency he had to watch the sky long after dark, sometimes throughout the night. Many times as an apprentice and a kit he would get told off for watching the stars of their ancestors because he would stay up the whole night, pondering.

Fawngaze wasn’t always such a gentle soul. Originally, his name was simply ‘Waste,’ as he was a rouge cat that left his previous clan in the city. Their harsh lifestyle was too much for him, so he tried to leave. His past leader took his decision quite personally, and demanded the others to bring him back. When Waste was collected, they brought him before his leader and he received a bite hard enough to cut into his shoulder muscle. That was how they left him- broken and bleeding, walking with a three legged limp. Any cat who saw him knew exactly what happened to him, and avoided the ‘wasted’ cat at all costs.
He found solace in the city trash heap. He would eat crow food and drink stale puddles of rain water to survive. When he could put weight back on his leg, he fled. No one even bothered to chase him this time. He passed many clan territories, and was run off more times than he could count. It wasn’t until he found the wide expanse of Hillsideclan territory that he felt safe enough to stop. Upon joining the clan, he was welcomed and so renamed Fawngaze. This set his heart at ease, for he would never again be known as a wasted cat, but as a valid member of a proper clan.
