what happened to their leg?: "How did I lose my leg? I uh, kind of had an incident with a shark when I was young..." Alejandro gulps. He seems somewhat shy but willing to tell his story. "My family had decided to go on vacation to a beach when I was around 7. I was thrilled, because I always enjoyed going to the beach. Especially in Florida, which is where we were going. My parents had decided to let a friend go with us, so I immediately chose my still friend Finnegan to go. After packing everything up, we drove to get Finnegan and headed to Florida. On the way there, Finnegan and I mostly slept, but when not sleeping we would play fun car games like Eye Spy." Alejandro seems to be getting a little off track in his memories. "Anyways, we arrived at our little townhouse that we rented and unpacked. Immediately after that, my parents let us go to the beach because they knew we'd beg all day if they didn't. So, we went to the beach with everything we needed. My parents lied their towels down and camped out at the beach. Pretty much no one was in the water. Probably because all of the signs pointed to and said sharks were in the water. Finnegan and I, being young and rebellious, decided to go to the water anyways. Finnegan was hesitant, but I was sure everything was fine. I went out pretty deep into the water and, well..." Alejandro sighs. "My leg was grabbed by a shark. I couldn't do anything about it. I heard Finnegan screaming as I was pulled under water. Everything went black after a minute and I woke up in the hospital hours later." Alejandro looks at you. "Well, that's it. Thanks for listening!" He smiles. [300 words]
