Fantôme is a stallion of many faces. He'll do anything to achieve his goal, no matter cost or the consequence. He's learned to embrace the dark side of the world, for he realized long ago that there's no point in trying to escape the bad things in life. Many judge him for his dark personality and shady motives, but deep down Fantôme truly has a heart of gold. His loyalty to the rare few he bonds with is eternal. They could wrong him a thousand times and not once would he retaliate.
What does the name mean? Well, "Fantôme" means "ghost" in French. It can also mean illusory, imagined, or not real. The first thing that came to mind when I saw this horse was "Such majestic" followed a couple seconds of staring. The next thing I noticed was how mysterious he looked. So what's more mysterious than an illusion? A ghost? My favorite movie "The Phantom of the Opera" also came into play here since this is the name of Erik aka the Phantom in French. Not to mention they rock the same color scheme.
Anyways back to what I said earlier about how majestic he looked, I decided to integrate that into the show name along with the whole mysterious theme. My final result was "Le Roi des Ombres" which means "The King of Shadows" in French.
Why French? Well, the breed originates from Canada, correct? Since the majority of Canada speaks French I decided it would only be right if his name was in French. Not to mention the names sound 1000 times cooler than they do in English. “Slowly, gently night unfurls its splendor. Grasp it, sense it, tremulous and tender. Turn your face away from the garish light of day, turn your thoughts away from cold, unfeeling light, and listen to the music of the night... Close your eyes and surrender to your darkest dreams, purge your thoughts of the life you knew before. Close your eyes, let your spirit start to soar, and live, as you never lived before!” ― Charles Hart, The Phantom of the Opera: Piano/Vocal
