Who is Ebenezer Scrooge? Evenezer Scrooge is the main character in Charles Dickinson novel a Christmas Carol. He is a greedy money lender in London, England. He views anything nice and cheerful as a waste. For this he is much dislikes by everyone. One night the ghost of his dead partner, Jacob Marley, visits him looking very haggard with heavy chains weighing him down. He tells him due to his selfish and greedy lifestyle he was condemned to wandering the earth for eternity and wanted to save his soul. He tells Scrooge that three spirits will visit him over the next three nights. The ghost of Christmas Past shows Scrooge himself as a young man working as an apprentice. At the time he was engaged to Belle, but because of his lust for money she left him rendering him unable to love again. He returned to bed shedding tears of regret.
The ghost of Christmas Present shows him Christmas that year as it will happen. Scrooge discovers the Cratchit family. Bob Cratchit's son, Tiny Tim, a crippled boy, who's humility and curiosity is so great it warms his heart. He sows him his nephews Christmas party. As the day goes one the specter gets noticbly older. Then he shows him two starving children named Want and Ignorance. Christmas Present disappears as a dark hooded figure comes towards him.
The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come walks him through numerous mysterious scenes where business members talk about a mans death. They bring up his riches and trade his riches for cash. They seem relieved at his death. Anxious to know the lesson of this encounter he pleas with the ghost to let him know the name of the dead man. Soon he finds himself in a church yard. Looking down at the gravestone he is shocked to see his name. Desperately he begs the spirit to alter his fate. He promises that he will change his ways and cherish the Christmas spirit.
He finds himself safe in his bed afterwards.
Overwhelmed with joy by the chance to redeem himself and grateful that he has been returned to Christmas Day, Scrooge rushes out onto the street hoping to share his newfound Christmas spirit. He sends a giant Christmas turkey to the Cratchit house and attends Fred's party, to the stifled surprise of the other guests. As the years go by, he holds true to his promise and honors Christmas with all his heart: he treats Tiny Tim as if he were his own child, provides lavish gifts for the poor, and treats his fellow human beings with kindness, generosity, and warmth.
