Handler: She-Hound
Name: Gyro
Short Story:
I quickly make my way through the green, thick forests around me, clutching my leather-bound journal tightly in my hands. My heart pounds with excitement, but I constantly remind myself to stay calm or I'll scare the beautiful creature away. Finally, I come to the small clearing and am relieved to see that it still lies in a feathery heap, sleeping peacefully. I slowly open my notebook and sketch a quick picture of the magnificent bird.
Suddenly, the animal lifts it's head and gazes at me, it's eyes alarmed and ears straight up. "Y-Your not a bird!" I stutter and quickly stop myself from falling backwards with shock. "I've heard of your species... Hook... Hook Tail? No..." I reach into a bag I bring with me everywhere I go and pull out a book. It is an ancient book containing all of the strange species that inhabit this world I had checked out of the library. I seemed to show my great interest in the book, because the librarian kindly let me keep it. I quickly flipped through the pages until I came to the oldest looking page. It is yellowed with age and the writing seems slightly faded. I look closely at the picture and then at the strange creature that studies me cautiously. "Hook-Beak Gryphon!" I exclaim. "That's what you are... Never seen anything like you.." I say softly. Bending down in front of the Gryphon, I slowly extend my hand. He slowly sniffs my hand, his weary eyes never leaving mine. I slowly withdraw my hand, but the small Hook-Beak snaps at my hand with fear. I quickly yank my hand away and take a deep breath of relief. "Sorry, buddy.." I reach into my bag and dig out the apple I brought. Setting it down in front of him, I slowly back up but watch him. He sniffs it cautiously, and bites a good-sized chunk off. He seems to prefer meat, as he doesn't take another bite, but looks rather hungry. Moving a bit closer, I smile at the small Gryphon. He watches me, now intently, and slowly puffs out his brilliant feathers. I laugh at the sight of the silly creature and reach my hand out once again. This time, he makes no move to bite my hand or flee, but stares at my hand as if he has known it's gentle touch for years. Before I can react, the small gryphon pushes his beak softly into my palm as a sign of trust. "Hey little guy... Would you like to be my companion?" I ask, not really expecting an answer. The small creature lets out a shrill chirp and folds his wings. "Gyro.. What do you think?" I ask. Originally, I had been saving that name for a horse, if I should ever get one, but a Gryphon would do. Gyro lets out a purr and rubs his beak against my knee. "Gyro it is then!" I say cheerfully.
Oh wow. O.o So sorry for the long story. XD I was inspired by this beautiful boy. <3
