My point is that one of the only types of wolves are grey wolves, and red wolves. They just have a lot of subspecies, but the fact that they have a lot of subspecies doesn't change my view on the Grey Wolves themselves.

And on that list with Grey Wolf subspecies, I believe that you forgot the Caspian Sea Wolf. It's Endangered, possibly critically endangered, as it was used to be found between the Caspian and Black sea, but it can now only be found in the Southeastern corner of Russia. It's also known as the Caucasian Wolf.

Frost Bite is right, there are two species of wolves, but lots of subspecies. :3

Gray Wolves - Species
Mexican Wolf - Subspecies
Russian Wolf - Subspecies
Himalayan Wolf - Subspecies
