Help me choose a cat name!

Postby ShadyShay » Mon Jul 26, 2021 3:01 am

I’m adopting a kitten in a few weeks! Right now he’s a 4 week old grayish-brown tabby cat with a spotted belly, found in a barn. Most likely just your generic American shorthair or something but looks bengal-ish with the markings.

Love food names, funky ones, nature-related, etc! Poll options are the ones I’ve liked most so far.

Currently have pets named Boomer, Bindi, Rocky, and Chief so not those :D

Cats have an easier time recognizing their name if it's a two-syllable name with a varied stressed-unstressed pattern (like SHARK-bait or FLAP-jack) rather than a longer name like Wasabi or Gazpacho with an unusual stress pattern (wa-SA-bi and gaz-PA-cho).
Looking at your suggested name list, I think your cat would have the easiest time with learning Shark Bait, although Flap Jack would likely also work well. Hope that helps! ^^

Wow I didn’t think people cared thanks guys! Haven’t been active.

I went rogue and chose Berlioz (Aristocats). But we mostly call him Burly Boy (since it sounds like Berlioz and he’s definitely not thick) or kitty cat (original, am I right?).

I appreciate the suggestions though!

Ps the photo is upside down oops

I 1000% will be remembering this next time around. I feel like my other pets’ names follow this rule but for small bean like I said I just made a ‘random’ decision 🤪
