Here's my little snail/mushroom hybrid! I tried to keep shading pretty plain:


They're (?) a little simpler than other designs, but hopefully the "unusual-ness" makes up for it ;w;

I thought a little bit about its movement, but not much else.
The big mushroom's roots is essentially the creature's spine. It's a slow moving character who has to feel around with both their antennae and arms in order to properly grasp where they are, and is upright (as shown) most of the time. When it "lies down" to eat, it has a tough time getting back up because of its wimpy arms...
Oh, and the only two roots that it can move fully are the two "arms"; its left is paralysed from the base of the big mushroom to where it's thrown over the neck--that way, it can only detach its left arm until the head. Its right arm can be fully moved since the rest of the root is inside it ;v; It can sort of wiggle the other protruding roots a little (which is why there's no moss on them), but can't move them very far.

While I was drawing him up, I started thinking about a few details (you obviously don't have to stick with these though). I couldn't fit it all on the ref without it looking ugly so I'll just put some stuff here:
- walks with a limp. Is very slow
- he guides people and animals into death during their final living moments
- the mushrooms that grow from him are poisonous
- when he walks there is a bone rattling sound
- talks in a constant whisper
- If you spot him/if he appears in your dreams, it's a symbol of your impending death
- constant look of sadness, even when he's happy
- he has a little (immortal?) slug buddy that is usually squirming around him
- if he touches you with his hands, your heart will stop beating
- his slug is his only friend
- his skull is tied with a string around his face

It was super fun designing him! ^v^
