Hey, I need ideas for wings not involving feathers because foam feathers make then too heavy and I don't have time to order real feathers. Thank you

Depending on how big the wings are/the shape, how about something like. fabric sewn around a thin plastic or cardboard base? (or stuffed?) that's the best I can think of, besides those two.

i've not had personal experience, but i saw advice that suggested to possibly plan your cosplays around the time of year? so if you want to cosplay a character with lots of layers, it may be best to do it in winter/autumn/spring if possible
if not, definitely pack plenty of water, take rest breaks, and keep out of the sun! also, I can't remember the name but i'm certain there's special bodysuits/armor you can wear underneath that are designed to keep your body cool. (like fursuiters often use)

its a longshot, but has anyone done inkling tentacles before? (not hats) specifically for either of the squid sisters, as I'll be cosplaying Marie and there are surprisingly few tutorials/material suggestions for either of their hair. I'm mostly stuck with the kind of fabric to use, since i've seen fleece, pvc and satin suggested but I haven't seen many examples of what they look like when made ;u;
I've recently ordered samples of some fabric that might look good though, so I'll be waiting to see if either of them might work. until then I'd love to see your suggestions!!

meanwhile I have to use foam for my angel chika wings because of how the feathers are styled and the extra detail.

Just got the morphsuit to use into making the body-suit like thing on ghirahim!

I feel like I'll sew in some sheer light green-grey fabric as the diamond cutouts, reverse the morphsuit, and cutting out the white parts. Then I'll hem the areas where I cut the parts where I'm cutting to make the rest of it (gloves, over-shoulder thingy, ect).
I'll just use a regular foot (no zipper), and use the zig-zag stitch so nothing bunches up.

Seem good?

If there is a craft store near you, you can probably find faux feathers there. Or use foam and just shrink the wings. What's the problem with weight? Are you worried about the wings not being erect or about it being too much for you to carry? If the former, stronger reinforcement inside the wings could help. I'm also thinking you could construct a base, cut each feather or section of feathers out from something light but reasonably durable like cardboard, paint them (which hopefully would cover up the fact that they're cardboard..), and glue them onto the base? Or if it could work for the character, sew some plush chibi wings and put them on a harness? Not sure if you want these to be cute or magnificent or just any sort of wing.

I haven't posted in here in Forever I apologize but from my experience
[I wore chuuya nakahara, don't be like me] absolutely do not wear
layers during summer cons UNLESS the place you're going to has some
sort of ac ! and if they do, plan on being inside for most of the time
you're wearing it. if you are going to go outside, whether for a
photoshoot of sorts or just to your hotel / car, make sure you have
someone with you [also something I learned] and hydrate yourself.
it's no fun passing out at a hot con. if it's something you can turn
into a "beach" or "summer" version of, I suggest doing that ! otherwise
plan for the time of year !!

felt was my friend for a similar problem ! I don't know how well
it'll work for your situation, but I suggest that ! I also did a test
with spray paint and kid's craft foam [peel & stick kind] that
worked somewhat well ! this is the tutorial I followed !

card or fabric could also work to make them super light if you have a strong enough base, but they ma end up being super fragile though
and dollar stores often have packs of feathers in the craft section, I got a whole mess of super fluffy feathers for my white day wings from just local dollar stores.
