IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Those of you on the Discord server already know but in case you didn't: the front page has been updated! The mods have been working for a few months to get a front page, rules, and gameplay update hammered out for ya'll and we hope that you'll enjoy the new functions. You should check out the new rules and How-To, of course, but a summary of some of the more important/interesting updates:

• The ages of villagers who need servings has been changed. Since young villagers can only begin participating at 8 years old, children 0-7 years old don't need food while those 8-20 need ½ of a serving each and those 21+ still need 1 serving each.
• We've added a new animal and a way for your villages to receive more benefits from farming!
• We've added new achievements and released the Scenes Challenge!
• Families can be as non-genderconforming as you want. Just make sure to tell your mod which parent is the "childbearing" parent or if you would like both parents to share the birthing risks. On a similar note, if you want polymerous families, you absolutely can. Just be sure to tell your mod who is acting as the "childbearing" parent and which parent(s) you want to contribute to the child's traits.
• A guide to lifespan has been created! Species have been divided into "short-lived" and "long-lived" species which lets you have characters on the older side without worrying about arbitrary deaths. Of course, if you actually have a vampire born into your village that dies at 200 posts...we will be very impressed with your dedication to this game.
• We've got some new items to craft! We've also removed the staff, which was a border patrol item. Villages which have a staff can exchange it for any one item per staff of iron/silver quality if applicable. (Ex: you can exchange your staff for a silver jewelry, iron sword, or a vial of medicine.)

This is by no means an exhaustive list of changes and additions; we've also altered the mod rolls so keep a lookout for new things gained through patrols! As always, ask a mod if you have any questions.

Christopher Conch would like to welcome everyone back to the CAV advent! While this year has been a bit slow, Christopher is very pleased to see the many new villages and has monitored the progress of older villages with keen interest. Perhaps he will have the time this year to make that travel guide.

It's 2021 and what a year it's been. I hope that it's been treating you well and I wish everyone a very boring and peaceful 2022. To take from the advent calendar, make a note in your post which day(s) and which package you're taking from. If you have two villages, you can split the advent packages between them although remember that each day can only go to one village. Once again, there are three days--regular (21 days), special (3 days), and the 25th--which give a different type of prize. The calendar has been rebalanced to make more sense to the majority of villages.

You can take from the advent if you made your first post (founding or otherwise) prior to December 1, 2021. Slow posters can continue taking from the advent until January 31, 2022.
