Man, I wish I live near a big city. I would love to get some Unowns, but alas I live in a rural town.

I wish I'd live in Japan or USA, since not even our biggest conventions get Unown spawns... *cough*
But I can't complain at all, we've had quite a few events here.

Yes, same here. I live in the city, where we have the biggest convention in my country and nothing special for it. However, thinking of it, I can say I live in such not important country, I should be grateful we have Pokestops here.
And, just going from and to work, I managed to catch 3 shiny Wingulls and I'm super happy about that. I also managed to get shiny Houndour earlier. And, what I'm most happy about, I evolved my last "spare" shiny Eevee and I got that Jolteon.

So far a pretty shoddy Moltres Day over here. We knocked the Moltres out but it didn't 'go down' on everyones phones, those who were lucky enough to actually log back in after they restarted their game managed to catch it.

got my first ever shiny durong the eevee event! I am afraid to evolve it though. The nick name trick has not been working and I very much want an umbreon. I caught a kinda low cp snorlax in the wild! Another pokemon down!

It only works once, did you already use the name trick?

For it to evolve safely into an Umbreon you need to have it as your buddy, walk 10 km with it, get 2 candies while doing so and evolving it out of the buddy menu at night.
That means it has to be your buddy when you evolve it.

For safety purposes the players in my city wait until it says at least 10.1 km and evolve it after 10pm.

Moltres day was a catastrophe for me.
Game crashed after the first one and I couldn't get it back. Only caught 3 out of 8 raids because it wouldn't stay in the ball- even with the golden berry, great/perfect throws and curveballs.
BUT at least I got a shiny and a 96% Moltres. Still a bit salty about the ones who ran away though. Zapdos and Articuno almost always stayed in the balls.

The third Raikou, that I caught through the field research reward last month, made me waste about 60+ balls, that included the small amount of Ultra and Great Balls. I am still recovering from that.

I have heard that you could only find Mewtwo in Ex Raids(Not including this event that is happening.), but what are those? Are they different than actual raids, and where would you normally find them at?

So Ex(clusive) Raids are invite only raids. If you do raids, you have a chance of getting an invite to an Ex Raid, which will be at a specific gym at a specific time. As far as I know it's only for Mewtwo.
