Hogwarts Institute of Sorcery and the Arcane Arts V2

"Gather round, gather round. Settle down. Now, I assume you have heard of our school's past. We were once known as Hogwarts School of Wizardry and Witchcraft. We are now known as Hogwarts Institute of Sorcery and the Arcane Arts. Our Headmaster, Professor Harry Potter, has been our Headmaster for over two centuries, due to reasons that are confidential. Now, when you walk through these doors, you will be sorted into one of Hogwarts' four houses. They are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. While you spend your time here, your house shall be your family. Your achievements will earn your house points, and rule breaking will lose points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points will be awarded the House Cup. Now come along, the Sorting Ceremony is starting."

The Sorting Hat was destroyed during the Battle of Hogwarts, so instead, there are statues of the house founders in the Great Hall. When you sit on the chair, a moment will pass before one of the statues' eyes glow with their house color. You are now in this founder's house.

There are classes taught at Hogwarts that would normally be taught in Muggle schools, such as cooking, economics, and physical education.

Hogwarts now requires that students attend the school until the age of 21.

Students may stay for the summer with written permission from a parent or guardian.

Many of the characters from the books are still alive to this day, because they believed it was safe to recreate the Philosopher's Stone after Voldemort's true demise. However, the Stone is still guarded by the trials that were mentioned in the first book(including the potions, which were not in the movie)

Many of the characters who died in the Second Wizarding War, such as Dumbledore, Snape, Sirius, and others have returned as ghosts. If you would like to play as a canon character's ghost, please inform me beforehand.

There are boys and girls uniforms, students will be given uniforms when sorted into their house

Wand Information

Postby Feral Fangs » Sun Aug 30, 2015 10:27 am

ฬคภ๔ ฬ๏๏๔ร

คςคςเค
A very unusual wand wood, which I have found creates tricky wands that often refuse to produce magic for any but their owner, and also withhold their best effects from all but those most gifted. This sensitivity renders them difficult to place, and I keep only a small stock for those witches or wizards of sufficient subtlety, for acacia is not suited to what is commonly known as 'bangs-and-smells' magic. When well-matched, an acacia wand matches any for power, though it is often underrated due to the peculiarity of its temperament.

คl๔єг
Alder is an unyielding wood, yet I have discovered that its ideal owner is not stubborn or obstinate, but often helpful, considerate and most likeable. Whereas most wand woods seek similarity in the characters of those they will best serve, alder is unusual in that it seems to desire a nature that is, if not precisely opposite to its own, then certainly of a markedly different type. When an alder wand is happily placed, it becomes a magnificent, loyal helpmate. Of all wand types, alder is best suited to non-verbal spell work, whence comes its reputation for being suitable only for the most advanced witches and wizards.

คקקlє
Applewood wands are not made in great numbers. They are powerful and best suited to an owner of high aims and ideals, as this wood mixes poorly with Dark magic. It is said that the possessor of an apple wand will be well-loved and long-lived, and I have often noticed that customers of great personal charm find their perfect match in an applewood wand. An unusual ability to converse with other magical beings in their native tongues is often found among apple wand owners, who include the celebrated author of Merpeople: A Comprehensive Guide to Their Language and Customs, Dylan Marwood.

ครђ
The ash wand cleaves to its one true master and ought not to be passed on or gifted from the original owner, because it will lose power and skill. This tendency is extreme if the core is of unicorn. Old superstitions regarding wands rarely bear close examination, but I find that the old rhyme regarding rowan, chestnut, ash and hazel wands (rowan gossips, chestnut drones, ash is stubborn, hazel moans) contains a small nugget of truth. Those witches and wizards best suited to ash wands are not, in my experience, lightly swayed from their beliefs or purposes. However, the brash or over-confident witch or wizard, who often insists on trying wands of this prestigious wood, will be disappointed by its effects. The ideal owner may be stubborn, and will certainly be courageous, but never crass or arrogant.

ครקєภ
Wand-quality aspen wood is white and fine-grained, and highly prized by all wand-makers for its stylish resemblance to ivory and its usually outstanding charmwork. The proper owner of the aspen wand is often an accomplished duellist, or destined to be so, for the aspen wand is one of those particularly suited to martial magic. An infamous and secretive eighteenth-century duelling club, which called itself The Silver Spears, was reputed to admit only those who owned aspen wands. In my experience, aspen wand owners are generally strong-minded and determined, more likely than most to be attracted by quests and new orders; this is a wand for revolutionaries.

๒ครเlเรк Ŧคภﻮ
The fang of a basilisk is filled to the brim with what is considered to be the most potent venom in the world. The basilisk wand rarely picks those who are insecure or not confident, but it will also deny somebody who is cocksure of themselves and believes that the wand should be proud to have them as an owner. The best people for a basilisk fang wand are people who have a sense of inner balance. People who are good at knowing their limitations and not going past them are best suited to this wand.

๒єєςђ
The true match for a beech wand will be, if young, wise beyond his or her years, and if full-grown, rich in understanding and experience. Beech wands perform very weakly for the narrow-minded and intolerant. Such wizards and witches, having obtained a beech wand without having been suitably matched (yet coveting this most desirable, richly hued and highly prized wand wood), have often presented themselves at the homes of learned wandmakers such as myself, demanding to know the reason for their handsome wand’s lack of power. When properly matched, the beech wand is capable of a subtlety and artistry rarely seen in any other wood, hence its lustrous reputation.”

๒เгςђ
Birch wood does not make for the most powerful wand in the Dark Arts, but is very useful in defensive and healing magic. Those who wield birch wands are caring and, in my experience, prefer to settle conflict peacefully, but are not afraid to fight when needed. A birch wand is capable of producing a strong Patronus due to its ability to ward off evil spirits.

๒lคςкtђ๏гภ
Blackthorn, which is a very unusual wand wood, has the reputation, in my view well-merited, of being best suited to a warrior. This does not necessarily mean that its owner practises the Dark Arts (although it is undeniable that those who do so will enjoy the blackthorn wand’s prodigious power); one finds blackthorn wands among the Aurors as well as among the denizens of Azkaban. It is a curious feature of the blackthorn bush, which sports wicked thorns, that it produces its sweetest berries after the hardest frosts, and the wands made from this wood appear to need to pass through danger or hardship with their owners to become truly bonded. Given this condition, the blackthorn wand will become as loyal and faithful a servant as one could wish.

๒lคςк ฬคlภยt
Less common than the standard walnut wand, that of black walnut seeks a master of good instincts and powerful insight. Black walnut is a very handsome wood, but not the easiest to master. It has one pronounced quirk, which is that it is abnormally attuned to inner conflict, and loses power dramatically if its possessor practises any form of self-deception. If the witch or wizard is unable or unwilling to be honest with themselves or others, the wand often fails to perform adequately and must be matched with a new owner if it is to regain its former prowess. Paired with a sincere, self-aware owner, however, it becomes one of the most loyal and impressive wands of all, with a particular flair in all kinds of charmwork.

๒๏ภє
While this is not actually wood, that does not mean it cannot be used in wand making. However bone wands are one of the trickiest to make, and even trickier to master. I find that the best bone to work with is a dragon's femur, as these have the most potential. A bone wand's difficulty comes from what most wandmakers call the "Death Jinx", which in my opinion has no basis whatsoever. However it is true that wands made of bone can be extremely powerful, and when combined with a core of dragon, are very dangerous in the hands of the wrong person. Bone wands normally find their partner in someone who is strong in their beliefs, whatever they may be. A surprising quality of the bone wand is that it will burn, if touched by anyone whom it does not consider worthy to be its master.

ςє๔คг
Whenever I meet one who carries a cedar wand, I find strength of character and unusual loyalty. My father, Gervaise Ollivander, used always to say, ‘you will never fool the cedar carrier,’ and I agree: the cedar wand finds its perfect home where there is perspicacity and perception. I would go further than my father, however, in saying that I have never yet met the owner of a cedar wand whom I would care to cross, especially if harm is done to those of whom they are fond. The witch or wizard who is well-matched with cedar carries the potential to be a frightening adversary, which often comes as a shock to those who have thoughtlessly challenged them.

ςђєггץ
This very rare wand wood creates a wand of strange power, most highly prized by the wizarding students of the school of Mahoutokoro in Japan, where those who own cherry wands have special prestige. The Western wand-purchaser should dispel from their minds any notion that the pink blossom of the living tree makes for a frivolous or merely ornamental wand, for cherry wood often makes a wand that possesses truly lethal power, whatever the core, but if teamed with dragon heartstring, the wand ought never to be teamed with a wizard without exceptional self-control and strength of mind.

ςђєรtภยt
This is a most curious, multi-faceted wood, which varies greatly in its character depending on the wand core, and takes a great deal of colour from the personality that possesses it. The wand of chestnut is attracted to witches and wizards who are skilled tamers of magical beasts, those who possess great gifts in Herbology, and those who are natural fliers. However, when paired with dragon heartstring, it may find its best match among those who are overfond of luxury and material things, and less scrupulous than they should be about how they are obtained. Conversely, three successive heads of the Wizengamot have possessed chestnut and unicorn wands, for this combination shows a predilection for those concerned with all manner of justice.

ςץקгєรร
Cypress wands are associated with nobility. The great medieval wandmaker, Geraint Ollivander, wrote that he was always honoured to match a cypress wand, for he knew he was meeting a witch or wizard who would die a heroic death. Fortunately, in these less blood-thirsty times, the possessors of cypress wands are rarely called upon to lay down their lives, though doubtless many of them would do so if required. Wands of cypress find their soul mates among the brave, the bold and the self-sacrificing: those who are unafraid to confront the shadows in their own and others’ natures.

๔๏ﻮฬ๏๏๔
Dogwood is one of my own personal favourites, and I have found that matching a dogwood wand with its ideal owner is always entertaining. Dogwood wands are quirky and mischievous; they have playful natures and insist upon partners who can provide them with scope for excitement and fun. It would be quite wrong, however, to deduce from this that dogwood wands are not capable of serious magic when called upon to do so; they have been known to perform outstanding spells under difficult conditions, and when paired with a suitably clever and ingenious witch or wizard, can produce dazzling enchantments. An interesting foible of many dogwood wands is that they refuse to perform non-verbal spells and they are often rather noisy.

๔гץค๔
Dryad is a wood I have only had the pleasure of working with in rare cases where a dryad half-breed is born and wants their wand made out of their own branches. I actually do enjoy working with dryad wood, as it makes a rather peculiar wand. When I work with dryad, the best core would have to be unicorn, as it coincides with the delicate nature of the dryad.

є๒๏ภץ
This jet-black wand wood has an impressive appearance and reputation, being highly suited to all manner of combative magic, and to Transfiguration. Ebony is happiest in the hand of those with the courage to be themselves. Frequently non-conformist, highly individual or comfortable with the status of outsider, ebony wand owners have been found both among the ranks of the Order of the Phoenix and among the Death Eaters. In my experience the ebony wand’s perfect match is one who will hold fast to his or her beliefs, no matter what the external pressure, and will not be swayed lightly from their purpose.

єl๔єг
The rarest wand wood of all, and reputed to be deeply unlucky, the elder wand is trickier to master than any other. It contains powerful magic, but scorns to remain with any owner who is not the superior of his or her company; it takes a remarkable wizard to keep the elder wand for any length of time. The old superstition, ‘wand of elder, never prosper,’ has its basis in this fear of the wand, but in fact, the superstition is baseless, and those foolish wandmakers who refuse to work with elder do so more because they doubt they will be able to sell their products than from fear of working with this wood. The truth is that only a highly unusual person will find their perfect match in elder, and on the rare occasion when such a pairing occurs, I take it as certain that the witch or wizard in question is marked out for a special destiny. An additional fact that I have unearthed during my long years of study is that the owners of elder wands almost always feel a powerful affinity with those chosen by rowan.

єl๓
The unfounded belief that only pure-bloods can produce magic from elm wands was undoubtedly started by some elm wand owner seeking to prove his own blood credentials, for I have known perfect matches of elm wands who are Muggle-borns. The truth is that elm wands prefer owners with presence, magical dexterity and a certain native dignity. Of all wand woods, elm, in my experience, produces the fewest accidents, the least foolish errors, and the most elegant charms and spells; these are sophisticated wands, capable of highly advanced magic in the right hands (which, again, makes it highly desirable to those who espouse the pure-blood philosophy).

єภﻮlเรђ ๏คк
A wand for good times and bad, this is a friend as loyal as the wizard who deserves it. Wands of English oak demand partners of strength, courage and fidelity. Less well-known is the propensity for owners of English oak wands to have powerful intuition, and, often, an affinity with the magic of the natural world, with the creatures and plants that are necessary to wizardkind for both magic and pleasure. The oak tree is called King of the Forest from the winter solstice up until the summer solstice, and its wood should only be collected during that time (holly becomes King as the days begin to shorten again, and so holly should only be gathered as the year wanes. This divide is believed to be the origin of the old superstition, “when his wand’s oak and hers is holly, then to marry would be folly,” a superstition that I have found baseless). It is said that Merlin’s wand was of English oak (though his grave has never been found, so this cannot be proven).

єยςคlץקtยร
Eucalyptus is a quite unusual wood, favored by the Australian wizards and witches who descend from the aborigine shamans. Because the tree grows so fast, it channels that liveliness into willingness and power. However the eucalyptus wand is quite fickle. I have found it very common that two eucalyptus wands will pick wizards that are sometimes polar opposites.

Ŧเг
My august grandfather, Gerbold Octavius Ollivander, always called wands of this wood ‘the survivor’s wand,’ because he had sold it to three wizards who subsequently passed through mortal peril unscathed. There is no doubt that this wood, coming as it does from the most resilient of trees, produces wands that demand staying power and strength of purpose in their true owners, and that they are poor tools in the hands of the changeable and indecisive. Fir wands are particularly suited to Transfiguration, and favour owners of focused, strong-minded and, occasionally, intimidating demeanour.

ђคฬtђ๏гภ
The wandmaker Gregorovitch wrote that hawthorn ‘makes a strange, contradictory wand, as full of paradoxes as the tree that gave it birth, whose leaves and blossoms heal, and yet whose cut branches smell of death.’ While I disagree with many of Gregorovitch’s conclusions, we concur about hawthorn wands, which are complex and intriguing in their natures, just like the owners who best suit them. Hawthorn wands may be particularly suited to healing magic, but they are also adept at curses, and I have generally observed that the hawthorn wand seems most at home with a conflicted nature, or with a witch or wizard passing through a period of turmoil. Hawthorn is not easy to master, however, and I would only ever consider placing a hawthorn wand in the hands of a witch or wizard of proven talent, or the consequences might be dangerous. Hawthorn wands have a notable peculiarity: their spells can, when badly handled, backfire.

ђคzєl
A sensitive wand, hazel often reflects its owner’s emotional state, and works best for a master who understands and can manage their own feelings. Others should be very careful handling a hazel wand if its owner has recently lost their temper, or suffered a serious disappointment, because the wand will absorb such energy and discharge it unpredictably. The positive aspect of a hazel wand more than makes up for such minor discomforts, however, for it is capable of outstanding magic in the hands of the skillful, and is so devoted to its owner that it often ‘wilts’ (which is to say, it expels all its magic and refuses to perform, often necessitating the extraction of the core and its insertion into another casing, if the wand is still required) at the end of its master’s life (if the core is unicorn hair, however, there is no hope; the wand will almost certainly have ‘died’). Hazel wands also have the unique ability to detect water underground, and will emit silvery, tear-shaped puffs of smoke if passing over concealed springs and wells.

ђเςк๏гץ
Though not as rare as bone, hickory is unusual and unique for a wand. Strong and flexible, hickory is perfect for those that are the same. When paired with a phoenix feather, it can be powerful in both good and bad hands. The wand is independent only choosing its master if the person is worthy to tame it.

ђ๏llץ
Holly is one of the rarer kinds of wand woods; traditionally considered protective, it works most happily for those who may need help overcoming a tendency to anger and impetuosity. At the same time, holly wands often choose owners who are engaged in some dangerous and often spiritual quest. Holly is one of those woods that varies most dramatically in performance depending on the wand core, and it is a notoriously difficult wood to team with phoenix feather, as the wood's volatility conflicts strangely with the phoenix's detachment. In the unusual event of such a pairing finding its ideal match, however, nothing and nobody should stand in their way.

ђ๏гภ๒єค๓
My own wand is made of hornbeam, and so it is with all due modesty that I state that hornbeam selects for its life mate the talented witch or wizard with a single, pure passion, which some might call obsession (though I prefer the term ‘vision’), which will almost always be realised. Hornbeam wands adapt more quickly than almost any other to their owner’s style of magic, and will become so personalised, so quickly, that other people will find them extremely difficult to use even for the most simple of spells. Hornbeam wands likewise absorb their owner’s code of honour, whatever that might be, and will refuse to perform acts - whether for good or ill - that do not tally with their master’s principles. A particularly fine-tuned and sentient wand.

เש๏гץ
Many people are attracted to the ivory wand because of its pristine appearance, but this material should not be underestimated. While some disapprove of using ivory in wands, I can assure that Ollivander brand ivory wands are made from walrus ivory, the sale of which is legal. Ivory can be combined with a Unicorn core for the most elegant magic ever spawned. Likewise, those with style and grace, but are not overly vain, make the ivory happiest.

เץש
The ivy wand finds itself happiest in the hands of one who is optimistic, strong, and most importantly, determined. Wizards and witches who wield ivy wands never let failures get them down, and their number one rule in life is more often than not "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.", something which I myself value as well. A unique and perhaps humorous quality of ivy wands is that they give rashes to those who try to steal them.

кคץค
Kaya's beautiful yellow colour makes it a favorite of witches and wizards who pride themselves on appearance. However, these types of people will find a poor match with the Japanese wood. In actuality, the best people to wield a Kaya wand are those who prefer to dabble in the logical arts.

lคгςђ
Strong, durable and warm in colour, larch has long been valued as an attractive and powerful wand wood. Its reputation for instilling courage and confidence in the user has ensured that demand has always outstripped supply. This much sought-after wand is, however, hard to please in the matter of ideal owners, and trickier to handle than many imagine. I find that it always creates wands of hidden talents and unexpected effects, which likewise describes the master who deserves it. It is often the case that the witch or wizard who belongs to the larch wand may never realise the full extent of their considerable talents until paired with it, but that they will then make an exceptional match.

lคยгєl
It is said that a laurel wand cannot perform a dishonourable act, although in the quest for glory (a not uncommon goal for those best suited to these wands), I have known laurel wands perform powerful and sometimes lethal magic. Laurel wands are sometimes called fickle, but this is unfair. The laurel wand seems unable to tolerate laziness in a possessor, and it is in such conditions that it is most easily and willingly won away. Otherwise, it will cleave happily to its first match forever, and indeed has the unusual and engaging attribute of issuing a spontaneous lightning strike if another witch or wizard attempts to steal it.

lเlคς
Lilac wands' popularity sprouts from its appearance, some of which still have lilac flowers on them. The flowers increase the beauty of the wand, but do not particularly make it any stronger. But despite its fragile appearance, the lilac wand is not one to be taken lightly. Wielders of lilac wands are creators of some of the most powerful love spells. It is said that one who carries a lilac wand will be ensured safety during travel.

๓คקlє
I have often found that those chosen by maple wands are by nature travellers and explorers; they are not stay-at-home wands, and prefer ambition in their witch or wizard, otherwise their magic grows heavy and lacklustre. Fresh challenges and regular changes of scene cause this wand to literally shine, burnishing itself as it grows, with its partner, in ability and status. This is a beautiful and desirable wood, and wand quality maple has been among the most costly for centuries. Possession of a maple wand has long been a mark of status, because of its reputation as the wand of high achievers.

קєคг
This golden-toned wood produces wands of splendid magical powers, which give of their best in the hands of the warm-hearted, the generous and the wise. Possessors of pear wands are, in my experience, usually popular and well-respected. I do not know of a single instance where a pear wand has been discovered in the possession of a Dark witch or wizard. Pear wands are among the most resilient, and I have often observed that they may still present a remarkable appearance of newness, even after many years of hard use.

קเภє
The straight-grained pine wand always chooses an independent, individual master who may be perceived as a loner, intriguing and perhaps mysterious. Pine wands enjoy being used creatively, and unlike some others, will adapt unprotestingly to new methods and spells. Many wandmakers insist that pine wands are able to detect, and perform best for, owners who are destined for long lives, and I can confirm this in as much as I have never personally known the master of a pine wand to die young. The pine wand is one of those that is most sensitive to non-verbal magic.

קlย๓
This very popular Chinese wand wood is rare in Western wandmaking. The purchaser of this wand should dispel any rumors they have heard about it, as many are false. The plum wand favours people who are similar to the fruit of the tree it comes from, sweet and joyful, but with a solid mind that cannot be swayed easily. When combined with Ryu whiskers, it produces a wondrous combination that creates in my opinion, the most beautiful examples of magic.

ק๏קlคг
“If you seek integrity, search first among the poplars,” was a great maxim of my grandfather, Gerbold Ollivander, and my own experience of poplar wands and their owners tallies exactly with his. Here is a wand to rely upon, of consistency, strength and uniform power, always happiest when working with a witch or wizard of clear moral vision. There is a tired old joke among lesser wandmakers that no poplar wand has ever chosen a politician, but here they show their lamentable ignorance: two of the Ministry’s most accomplished Ministers for Magic, Eldritch Diggory and Evangeline Orpington, were the possessors of fine, Ollivander-made poplar wands.

гє๔ ๏คк
You will often hear the ignorant say that red oak is an infallible sign of its owner’s hot temper. In fact, the true match for a red oak wand is possessed of unusually fast reactions, making it a perfect duelling wand. Less common than English oak, I have found that its ideal master is light of touch, quick-witted and adaptable, often the creator of distinctive, trademark spells, and a good man or woman to have beside one in a fight. Red oak wands are, in my opinion, among the most handsome.

гє๔ฬ๏๏๔
Wand-quality redwood is in short supply, yet constant demand, due to its reputation for bringing good fortune to its owner. As is usually the case with wandlore, the general populace have the truth back to front: redwood wands are not themselves lucky, but are strongly attracted to witches and wizards who already possess the admirable ability to fall on their feet, to make the right choice, to snatch advantage from catastrophe. The combination of such a witch or wizard with a redwood wand is always intriguing, and I generally expect to hear of exciting exploits when I send this special pairing out from my workshop.

г๏ฬคภ
Rowan wood has always been much-favoured for wands, because it is reputed to be more protective than any other, and in my experience renders all manner of defensive charms especially strong and difficult to break. It is commonly stated that no Dark witch or wizard ever owned a rowan wand, and I cannot recall a single instance where one of my own rowan wands has gone on to do evil in the world. Rowan is most happily placed with the clear-headed and the pure-hearted, but this reputation for virtue ought not to fool anyone - these wands are the equal of any, often the better, and frequently out-perform others in duels.

รครรคŦгคร
Sassafras wood is the cure to many ailments, and therefore is used mainly for healing magic. However sassafras wands can also be used in defensive situations, and are capable of powerful magic. The perfect witch or wizard for a sassafras wand is somebody who is content with the way things are, as long as it does not majorly affect themselves. Many Hogwarts students who I have sold Sassafras wands to are sorted into Hufflepuff, and this does not surprise me given the sassafras wand's sluggish nature.

รเlשєг lเ๓є
This unusual and highly attractive wand wood was greatly in vogue in the nineteenth century. Demand outstripped supply, and unscrupulous wandmakers dyed substandard woods in an effort to fool purchasers into believing that they had purchased silver lime. The reasons for these wands’ desirability lay not only in their unusually handsome appearance, but also because they had a reputation for performing best for Seers and those skilled in Legilimency, mysterious arts both, which consequently gave the possessor of a silver lime wand considerable status. When demand was at its height, wandmaker Arturo Cephalopos claimed that the association between silver lime and clairvoyance was ‘a falsehood circulated by merchants like Gerbold Ollivander (my own grandfather), who have overstocked their workshops with silver lime and hope to shift their surplus.’ But Cephalopos was a slipshod wandmaker and an ignoramus, and nobody, Seer or not, was surprised when he went out of business.

รקгยςє
Unskilled wandmakers call spruce a difficult wood, but in doing so they reveal their own ineptitude. It is quite true that it requires particular deftness to work with spruce, which produces wands that are ill-matched with cautious or nervous natures, and become positively dangerous in fumbling fingers. The spruce wand requires a firm hand, because it often appears to have its own ideas about what magic it ought to be called upon to produce. However, when a spruce wand meets its match - which, in my experience, is a bold spell-caster with a good sense of humour - it becomes a superb helper, intensely loyal to their owners and capable of producing particularly flamboyant and dramatic effects.

รץςค๓๏гє
The sycamore makes a questing wand, eager for new experience and losing brilliance if engaged in mundane activities. It is a quirk of these handsome wands that they may combust if allowed to become ‘bored,’ and many witches and wizards, settling down into middle age, are disconcerted to find their trusty wand bursting into flame in their hand as they ask it, one more time, to fetch their slippers. As may be deduced, the sycamore’s ideal owner is curious, vital and adventurous, and when paired with such an owner, it demonstrates a capacity to learn and adapt that earns it a rightful place among the world's most highly-prized wand woods.

שเภє
The druids considered anything with a woody stem as a tree, and vine makes wands of such a special nature that I have been happy to continue their ancient tradition. Vine wands are among the less common types, and I have been intrigued to notice that their owners are nearly always those witches or wizards who seek a greater purpose, who have a vision beyond the ordinary and who frequently astound those who think they know them best. Vine wands seem strongly attracted by personalities with hidden depths, and I have found them more sensitive than any other when it comes to instantly detecting a prospective match. Reliable sources claim that these wands can emit magical effects upon the mere entrance into their room of a suitable owner, and I have twice observed the phenomenon in my own shop.

ฬคlภยt
Highly intelligent witches and wizards ought to be offered a walnut wand for trial first, because in nine cases out of ten, the two will find in each other their ideal mate. Walnut wands are often found in the hands of magical innovators and inventors; this is a handsome wood possessed of unusual versatility and adaptability. A note of caution, however: while some woods are difficult to dominate, and may resist the performance of spells that are foreign to their natures, the walnut wand will, once subjugated, perform any task its owner desires, provided that the user is of sufficient brilliance. This makes for a truly lethal weapon in the hands of a witch or wizard of no conscience, for the wand and the wizard may feed from each other in a particularly unhealthy manner.

ฬเll๏ฬ
Willow is an uncommon wand wood with healing power, and I have noted that the ideal owner for a willow wand often has some (usually unwarranted) insecurity, however well they may try and hide it. While many confident customers insist on trying a willow wand (attracted by their handsome appearance and well-founded reputation for enabling advanced, non-verbal magic) my willow wands have consistently selected those of greatest potential, rather than those who feel they have little to learn. It has always been a proverb in my family that he who has furthest to travel will go fastest with willow.

ץєฬ
Yew wands are among the rarer kinds, and their ideal matches are likewise unusual, and occasionally notorious. The wand of yew is reputed to endow its possessor with the power of life and death, which might, of course, be said of all wands; and yet yew retains a particularly dark and fearsome reputation in the spheres of duelling and all curses. However, it is untrue to say (as those unlearned in wandlore often do) that those who use yew wands are more likely to be attracted to the Dark Arts than another. The witch or wizard best suited to a yew wand might equally prove a fierce protector of others. Wands hewn from these most long-lived trees have been found in the possession of heroes quite as often as of villains. Where wizards have been buried with wands of yew, the wand generally sprouts into a tree guarding the dead owner’s grave. What is certain, in my experience, is that the yew wand never chooses either a mediocre or a timid owner.

ฬคภ๔ ς๏гєร

ยภเς๏гภ
Unicorn hair generally produces the most consistent magic, and is least subject to fluctuations and blockages. Wands with unicorn cores are generally the most difficult to turn to the Dark Arts. They are the most faithful of all wands, and usually remain strongly attached to their first owner, irrespective of whether he or she was an accomplished witch or wizard.

Minor disadvantages of unicorn hair are that they do not make the most powerful wands (although the wand wood may compensate) and that they are prone to melancholy if seriously mishandled, meaning that the hair may 'die' and need replacing.

๔гคﻮ๏ภ
As a rule, dragon heartstrings produce wands with the most power, and which are capable of the most flamboyant spells. Dragon wands tend to learn more quickly than other types. While they can change allegiance if won from their original master, they always bond strongly with the current owner.

The dragon wand tends to be easiest to turn to the Dark Arts, though it will not incline that way of its own accord. It is also the most prone of the three cores to accidents, being somewhat temperamental.

קђ๏єภเא
This is the rarest core type. Phoenix feathers are capable of the greatest range of magic, though they may take longer than either unicorn or dragon cores to reveal this. They show the most initiative, sometimes acting of their own accord, a quality that many witches and wizards dislike.

Phoenix feather wands are always the pickiest when it comes to potential owners, for the creature from which they are taken is one of the most independent and detached in the world. These wands are the hardest to tame and to personalize, and their allegiance is usually hard won.

ςђเ๓єгค
Chimera is a unique type of core. It is not often used, not for safety reasons, they are no more stubborn than hippogriff feathers, and are more stable than Erumpent hide. But the sad fact is that there have been more basilisks killed in the last fifty years than there have been chimeras killed in recorded history. Suffice it to say, a wand with a chimera scale fragment core is under appreciated by those who do not know of the power it can give.

๒ครเlเรк
Basilisk skin is a very rare core, for the obvious reason being that Basilisks are extremely rare and hard to kill. However, the medieval wandmaker Geraint Ollivander was said to have had wizards who had brought him a piece of a basilisk's skin and asked him to use it as a core. When this core is paired with the material of basilisk fang, it can make a deadly combination.

ђเקק๏ﻮгץקђ
Hippogryphs are very proud creatures, and as such, a wand with a hippogryph feather as its core is just as proud. It demands constant respect and will backfire if its owner does not show it enough. However hippogryph feathers are not a common core, as they are not very powerful.

คгคςђภє
Arachne web is a very powerful core, but is very exclusive in wandmaking, being found only in wizarding families who are lucky enough to be half-arachne. While the web is difficult to collect, those who do will be pleased with its affects. Although I have received kind donations from half-arachne families, the arachne wand is very picky when it comes to its owner.

ﻮเгtค๒lเlย
Girtablilu venom, like arachne web, is exclusive in wandmaking, normally found in half-girtablilu families. Even those who have girtablilu blood in them are not always best suited to these wands, especially if their personality does not bond with Dark magic, as the venom has strong ties to Dark magic.

гץย
Ryu whiskers are actually a quite common core in Japanese and Chinese wandmaking. They are normally combined with cherry or plum, the traditional wand woods for these countries. Ryu wands are some of the best for dueling, as they can produce a wide variety of offensive and defensive spells. However I find that they rarely pick wizards and witches that wish to become champion duelists, and prefer people who like helping others.

๓๏๏ภรt๏ภє
Moonstones are not easy to find, and as such are not used in wandmaking fairly often. Moonstone wands are not particularly powerful, unless combined with the proper wood. They are good at producing illusions that are hard to distinguish from reality. However, moonstone usage is restricted by the Ministry of Magic, and all owners of moonstone wands must sign a registry as soon as they obtain their wand.

๓คﻮเς ﻮє๓ร
Magic Gem fragments make a very unusual core, as there are many different types, and not all of them are usable as cores. The best gem for usage in wandmaking in my opinion is Neptunian Sapphire. This gem is rare in that it can only me mined underwater, and so cooperation from merpeople is necessary in order to obtain it. The Neptunian Sapphire core produces elegant magic, and unlike other wands, its power is not diminished while underwater. Another interesting type of core gem is Zeus's Amythest. The amethyst's powers are extremely tempermental, and it was rumored that the largest lightning storm to ever hit London was caused by a wizard who possessed this type of wand. The third and final gem that I use in my wands is Hadesian Oynx. Onyx is usually perceived a gem with strong ties to the Dark Arts. While it is true that the Hadesian Onyx is associated with the Greek God of Death, wands with it as a core are capable of producing powerful Patronuses, however for some reason, they tend to be small animals, despite their immense power.

ฬคภ๔ lєภﻮtђร & Ŧlєאเ๒เlเtץ

Many wandmakers simply match the wand length to the size of the witch or wizard who will use it, but this is a crude measure, and fails to take into account many other, important considerations. In my experience, longer wands might suit taller wizards, but they tend to be drawn to bigger personalities, and those of a more spacious and dramatic style of magic. Neater wands favour more elegant and refined spell-casting. However, no single aspect of wand composition should be considered in isolation of all the others, and the type of wood, the core and the flexibility may either counterbalance or enhance the attributes of the wand’s length.

Most wands will be in the range of between nine and fourteen inches. While I have sold extremely short wands (eight inches and under) and very long wands (over fifteen inches), these are exceptionally rare. In the latter case, a physical peculiarity demanded the excessive wand length. However, abnormally short wands usually select those in whose character something is lacking, rather than because they are physically undersized (many small witches and wizards are chosen by longer wands).

Wand flexibility or rigidity denotes the degree of adaptability and willingness to change possessed by the wand-and-owner pair - although, again, this factor ought not to be considered separately from the wand wood, core and length, nor of the owner’s life experience and style of magic, all of which will combine to make the wand in question unique.

New Creatures and Items

ภєฬ ςгєคtยгєร

คгคςђภє
The arachne is classified as a beast, despite being fully sentient and intelligent. The reason behind their classification is because they tend to be genetically violent and in some cases, insane. They are a race of creatures known as insectoids. The creature seems to resemble a cross between an Acromantula and a Centaur, being part spider, part human. While these creatures are rare, their web makes for an incredible wand core, and unlike Acromantula Web is perfectly legal. However, coaxing them to give you a strand of web can be very dangerous, as it is only the females' web whose is useful as a core and humans, both male and female, find themselves enraptured by the females' beauty, and more often then not, are killed. Men who are not killed by a female arachne are often spared because the female finds him to be a suitable mate. The children of humans and arachne are considered beings, as they are not as violent as pure blood arachne

ﻮเгtค๒lเlย
Girtablilu, a subspecies of arachne, were once only native to Arabia, but because of breeding with humans, they are found all across the world. Like their close relatives arachne, they are very aggressive, but breeding with humans nullifies this. Also like arachne, they have a substances that can be used in wands, their venom. Girtablilu venom is very potent and can kill in a matter of minutes if left untreated. However, they only use their venom when they are left no other choice but to kill. Despite being aggressive, these creatures are very sensible and only kill when there is no other option.

ןยг๏ย-ﻮย๓๏
Jorou-Gumo are a subspecies of arachne which are classified as beings, due to their intelligence and gentle disposition. They are capable of speech from the time they are born, which is a mark of their extreme intelligence. However, they rarely speak the human tongue, instead speaking a language known as Jorou, which consists of strange combinations of clicking sounds. Unlike arachne web, their silk is used in clothing, which are considered high grade products due to both material and craftsmanship. They sell in the marketplace for extremely high sums.

ยรђเ-๏ภเ
Ushi-Oni, literally meaning "cow demon" in Japanese, are actually a subspecies of arachne. They seem to resemble a cross between an arachne and a minotaur, having two large horns at the top of their head. The males are covered in tribal looking tattoos that are given to them by their mother at a young age. The symbols dictate the male's role in the colony, with the symbol "ค" meaning that when the current leader dies, the male given the symbol will become the new leader.

คภt คгคςђภє
Ant Arachne are a subspecies of arachne, but are complete opposites. The ant arachne is very lazy, relying on the similar looking Giant Ant to provide for them. They spend most of the day doing nothing but sleeping and eating. However, when you get an ant arachne angry, they will rub their antenna together to summon their Giant Ant 'colony'.

ﻮเคภt คภt
The giant ant looks similar to the ant arachne, but they are very different. The giant ant is diligent and never slacks off. Some of them continue working even after they've gone to sleep. Despite their work loving natures, they are forced to share their colonies with the parasitic and lazy ant arachne, however they never do anything about them, because it means they get to do more work to support the extra colony members.

๏๏๓ยкค๔є
Oomukade are monstrous insectoids that inhabit caves and underground caverns. They have the lower body of a centipede and the upper body of a human. They can be very dangerous, biting anyone who gets too close to them, and injecting them with their non-fatal venom. The venom causes hallucinations that can startle people to the point of them going insane.

ﻮเคภt รlยﻮ
Giant slugs are much like giant ants in appearance, being part human, part slug. As one could infer, they move very slowly, and they possess a set of eyestalks which act as a second set of eyes. They prefer dark damp places, similar to the places that Boggarts like. If you see a giant saltshaker in a cave, you know that a giant slug is nearby, as this is the fear shared by all giant slugs, salt.

ђ๏ภєץ ๒єєร
Honey Beasts are insectoids that act much like honeybees, in that they form a hive with a single matriarch who gives birth to all the members of the hive, nurses that take care of the young, and workers who collect alraune nectar that they process into honey. Also like honeybees, they are capable of injecting people who come to close or who aggravate them with their toxic stinger, however this is a life threatening choice. Many honey beasts that sting do not survive unless they are taken back to the hive quickly.

ђ๏гภєt
Hornets, another insectoid, look similar to honey bees, however they are much slimmer in figure. Unlike honey bees, they eat small animals, which they hunt with spears coated in their venom. When the venom is injected into humans, it causes pain and swelling, which in some cases, can be fatal. While they normally eat small animals, the females do attack honey bee hives to steal honey in order to maintain their figure, so they can attract a suitable mate.

๒єєlzє๒ย๒
A insectoid also referred to as "Lord of the Flies." Their body is small, but they possess tremendous magical energy and they fly around the sky at high speed using the wings on their back. They're also called "Lord of Gluttony," because they devour anything that is edible. In this way, they are extremely dangerous monsters, but they're also symbolic of a bountiful harvest. Once they've taken a liking to someone, no matter how much food is devoured by them, even more food and wealth will be accumulated.

кђєקгเ
Golden scarabs that live in groups in the ruins of the desert region. They appeared out of nowhere in the ruins that became abandoned after losing their original master (pharaohess) and started living there unnoticed. They excel at manipulating demonic energy, and they have a habit of gathering the demonic energy released by monsters normally, rolling it into a spherical form, carrying it, and storing it in the ruins of their home.

รคภ๔ฬ๏г๓
Enormous worms that inhabit the desert region. At first glance, they seem to have the appearance of a monster from the age of former demon lords. Inside their mouths there’s a part that looks like a tongue or bait in the form of a beautiful woman, but the woman part is actually the main body. They can move freely as if swimming through the sand, and when they dive into sand, by closing the part that’s like the mouth of a monster, they can store their soft, sensitive main body inside and protect themselves with the shell that’s like a rocky surface. Powerful Sandworms are capable of changing the appearance of their human and worm bodies at will. They will shrink their outer body and morph their human body to give themselves the appearance of a Lamia, allowing themselves to visit human settlements.

ร๏l๔เєг ๒єєtlє
Insectoids covered in a sturdy exoskeleton that is like armour, impenetrable by both sword and arrows. They are heavy cavalry from birth, possessing organs of modified exoskeleton that are like weapons, shields, and horns, as well as a massive lower body. In combat, they appear as perfectly trained soldiers, never faltering or falling into disarray. They are taciturn, and poor at expressing emotion. On top of that, it is difficult to read emotion from their peculiar insect-like eyes. The race's horns, weapons, and shields come in variety of forms. They are classified into different varieties such as “scissor beetles”, like the individual in the illustration, that have two horns, and a scissor-like weapon, “lancer beetles”, that have a single horn, and a spear like weapon, and “shield beetles”, that don't have horns, but do have a sturdy great shield.

๔єשเl ๒ยﻮ
An insectoid known as "devil bug" that has existed since ancient times. They prefer dark, damp places, and aside from dwelling in caves and the like, they also often sneak into such places as warehouses and human dwellings unnoticed, living under the floor, in the attic etc. Their bodies are supposed to be right around the same size as a human girl, yet it's said that they're able to invade even small homes and settle down without the residents being aware of it. While they are intelligent enough to use language, they're almost completely irrational, and their behaviour is directed by instincts.

๓คภtเร
An insectoid distinguished by the huge scythes equipped on both of its arms. Normally they dwell deep in forest, using the scythes on their arms to quickly bring down wild animals, etc. and eat them. Because of how ruthless they appear when observed instantly lopping off the head of a massive beast, they are also called “assassins of the forest,” and feared.

๓๏tђ๓คภ
Moth insectoids with soft fur covering their bodies and large wings with peculiar patterns. They prefer to dwell in dark places, but have a tendency to be attracted to lights. They are known for the powder that covers their wings. Inhaling the powder causes a funny sensation, where the person seems to be intoxicated. The powder is also useful for potions

ฬєгєקเгє
As the name suggests, werepires are the extremely rare combination of a werewolf and a vampire. They are classified as beings, unless they are in their werewolf state, when they are classified as a beast. Werepires are said to hunt for sport, as they do not need blood to survive, and many of these creatures actually dislike the taste of blood. However, they are weak to sunlight, not to the point where it will disintegrate them, but it will make them faint and sluggish. Much like werewolves, they are seen as outcasts in the wizarding world, and rarely tell anyone about their condition.

รςץllค
Scylla are a subspecies of merpeople, and only inhabit the oceans. Unlike regular merpeople, they are half octopus instead of half fish. They are very shy and rarely come to the surface to converse with humans, but there have been rare sightings. While they are relatively harmless to humans, they have a bite that is similar to that of a werewolf's.

ςคภςєг
Cancers are a subspecies of merpeople, and as the name would suggest, are half crab. Unlike merpeople, they can spend extended periods of time out of the water, and more often then not, inhabit the shorelines of water rather than the water itself. These creatures, while normally docile, have trouble expressing their emotions, and as such can sometimes turn their enormous pincers on people they care about.

คгςtเς รєlкเє
The Arctic Selkie, unlike the selkie of Scotland, is much like their warm water cousins. Another subspecies of merpeople, they are half seal. Because of this, they are similar to cancers in that they can survive on land. They are hunters by nature, carrying spears with a spearhead that is large enough to kill a full grown polar bear, which is their main prey.

รєค ๒เรђ๏ק
A type of mermaid that lives in the ocean. From birth, they are priests who serve the God of the sea, Poseidon. By borrowing the power of Poseidon, they can perform a special ritual in which they remake the body of a human to enable them to live in the sea. The ritual is similar to that of a human marriage ceremony, with the sea bishop acting as the groom/bride and the pastor. Once the ritual is complete, the human is now a mermaid.

๓єгг๏ฬ
Merrow, a type of mermaid distinguished by her pink scales and hair, as well as the red cap it wears, are unusually friendly towards humans. It is advised that men approach them with caution, because if a merrow takes a romantic liking to a man, she will pull him into the water and take him away to become a merman, via the Sea Bishop's ritual. The merrow will then consider the new merman her husband, and will become extremely materialistic over him. The hat is the merrow's version of an engagement ring, when a merrow gives a man her hat, it is a sign that she wants him to become her husband, and that she will not take no as an answer. Merrows that are rejected because a man already has a female in his life happily take the hat back and search for another man.

๔гคﻮ๏ภ קє๏קlє
Dragon People, as the name suggests, as humanoids with the features of a dragon. They posses a thick scaly armor around their arms, legs, groin, and females have breast plates as well. While many people think they are dangerous, mindless beasts that would kill you in a second, they are actually quite intelligent and docile, which is why they are classified as beings, not beasts. Much like a dragon they possess sharp claws that can tear through steel, breath fire that can incinerate anything, and have large wings on their back.

гץย
Ryu are a primarily female species, a male's birth is very rare, unless a ryu breeds with a human and gives birth to a half breed. Ryu are actually a subspecies of dragon people. Ryu have the upper body of a human and a serpentine lower body. While many people mistake them for lamia, there are many differences that are clear. A Ryu has a long mane that goes down the entire length of its serpentine body, in some cases merging with the individual's hair. Most Ryu also have horns that resemble the antlers of a deer. They are seen as sacred beings by Japanese and Chinese wizards and witches.

ฬยг๓
The wurm is a close relative of the Ryu, and is another subspecies of dragon people, and looks very similar, with a few key differences. One notable difference is that a wurm's hide is incredibly thick, a simple steel sword would be unable to pierce it, and most magic would also be deflected. Wurms also lack the mane that ryu possess, as well as having scales covering their arms, which normally form thick claws which can deal devastating blows. The species lives primarily underground, but will surface to feast on certain prey. Unlike Ryu half breeds, which are quite common in Japan and China, Wurm half breeds are not as large in numbers.

๒ย๓๒๓๏lקђ
A bumbmolph is very similar to a manticore in that it has a lion's body, but that is where the similarities end. Bumbmolphs have the hooves and horns of goats, and large bat like wings. They have the personality similar to the lions, and they are very sensible creatures, they are quite smart and could quite easily make you their prey. They attack using power and don't use camouflage and stealth as much. The sale of their eggs has been illegal since 2145, when a dark witch named Ursula Bloodcrow used a pack of Bumbmolphs that she had raised from eggs to inflict severe mental trauma on several Muggles, who had to be treated at St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries, much to the anger of many wizards and witches.

lค๓เค
Lamia are very common in the desert regions of Egypt, and guard enormous hoards of treasure. The only way to receive the lamia's treasure is to give her an offering in exchange. Most of the time, if a lamia is approached by a suitable male, she will offer her hand to him, threatening to kill him if he refuses. Lamia venom is a very valuable material, and fetches about 400 Galleons per pint.

รђเг๏ђє๒เ
Shirohebi, a subspecies of lamia, are very different from a standard lamia. They have skin that has very little pigment, similar to that of a human albino. They also have white hair and scales, representing their status as pure beings. Unlike lamia, they live in the ponds of shrines dedicated to ryu in Japan and China. They are able to use blue flames in order to protect the shrine of the ryu they serve.

คק๏קђเร
Apophis, another subspecies of lamia are very dark in color, having dark purple scales. Unlike lamia, they are very timid, and rely on their cobra-like hoods to scare off enemies. Those who are not scared off by the hood are seen as superiors by the apophis, and they will dedicate their live to serving them. They typically inhabit the dank and dark underground tombs of Egypt, but people will take them home with them is the apophis dedicates her life to serving them. Their venom is actually very useful in making love potions, and is valued at 750 Galleons a pint.

๓є๔ยรค
Medusa, the final of the three subspecies of lamia, are named after the ancient Greek Gorgon, because of their similarities to the creature, namely the hair of snakes. However, unlike gorgons, their gaze does not turn people to stone. They are not high in numbers and normally live alone, and as such are rather lonesome. For this reason they normally trap people who go into their lairs and keep them as captive company.

ฬเll-๏-tђє-ฬเรק
Will-o-the-Wisp are strange creatures, they are the fusion of demonic energy and a soul of a person who died alone and without love. Their lower body is similar to a chandelier, burning with blue flames comprised of jealousy, which rage when the wisp views the living expressing love. They seem rather friendly to those who are not showing signs of love, or signs of a broken heart, as they feel that the person will become a fellow wisp when they die. Many wisps inhabit Hogwarts as roaming guards to find students out of bed.

ﻮคzєг
Gazers are creatures that take the form of a human sized cyclops, with many tentacles, each with an eye at the end. These creatures hypnotize humans to make them forget their animosities and hatreds. The main eye contains powerful magic, even more powerful than the eyes on the tentacles. Gazers are known to inhabit Hogwarts as guards due to their ability to see 360 degrees and hypnotize students into coming with them to a teacher to be punished.

lคשค ﻮ๏lє๓
Lava golems are created through the fusion of lava and demonic energy. Because of the demonic energy that created them, they can be very dangerous and aggressive. However, these creatures have been seen living in cold areas and using their control over heat to provide warmth to freezing travelers.

кคгคкครค-๏๒คкє
Karakasa-obake are creatures that have been created by demonic energy inhabiting a bamboo umbrella. The proper term for a creature that used to be an inanimate object is a "tsukumogami." The karakasa-obake seem to like thunderstorms, possibly for the reason of previously being umbrellas. They take the form of a human who has an enormous straw hat, only the hat appears to have the pattern of an umbrella. In order to camouflage, they are able to take the form of an umbrella.

ςђ๏ςђเภ-๏๒คкє
Another tsukumogami, the chochin-obake was created from a Japanese paper lantern. The creatures seem to look like a young girl, who wears a kimono that has long sleeves. Their belly burns with the flame they once had as a lantern. They tend to inhabit shrines dedicated to Ryu, during the day the assume the form of an unlit paper lantern. During the night they take their true form and patrol the area near the shrine.

คlгคยภє
Alraune are a type of creature known as plant people. They are similar to the carnivorous plant "Venus Flytrap" as they use sweet scents and beautiful singing to lure unsuspecting prey near their root system, where they can grab and consume them. The creature takes the form of a giant pink flower with a black center that can open up to reveal the humanoid body. Alraune are kept at the Hogwarts Herbology Greenhouses.

lเlเгคยภє
Liliraune are an unusual mutation of alraune, in which the flower looks more like a giant white lily with a large pool of nectar inside it. Instead of one humanoid body, there are two, which are normally the same gender. However, in rare cases the liliraune will have one male body and one female body, allowing it to reproduce without pollination. liliraune nectar is much sweeter than that of an alraune. Unlike the alraune, they rely on nutrients from the soil rather than catching prey. Liliraune are kept at the Hogwarts Herbology Greenhouse

๒คг๏๓єtz
Barometz are a plant people that produce their own food with sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide. A barometz takes the form of a giant fruit with jelly like flesh. Inside the flesh, it is possible to make out a wooly creature curled up in fetal position. During the spring, the flesh of the fruit will burst into small pieces of the fruit, which fetches 135 Galleons. The creature that was inside the fruit is the barometz's true form. It seems to be a human with sheep's wool. The wool starts off being a simple light coat, and grows as winter approaches. When winter comes, the wool will have covered the barometz's entire body, shielding the forming fruit from the cold. They are kept at the Hogwarts Herbology Greenhouses, where their fruit is harvested.

๓คภ๔гคﻮ๏гค
A plant person in the form of a woman with roots. The parts corresponding to the roots are buried deep within the earth. They only push out the flower on their head to the surface of the ground. They wait for their prey, which is lured by the sweet fragrance released from the flower petals, to come and pull them up. When the prey is near enough, they let out an head splitting shriek, similar to that of the deadly Mandrake, also named Mandragora. Unlike the mandrake their cry is not fatal, they kill their prey themselves.

tєภtคςlє
A plant person endowed with a countless number of slippery tentacles. Originally they weren't monsters, instead they were grotesque plants known as "tentacle plants" that grow in clusters in the demon realm, they became monsters. Before becoming monsters, they were tentacle plant leaders possessing high intelligence, so they can communicate with and manipulate the tentacle plants around them.

๔гץค๔
Dryads are plant people who inhabit a tree, and use its roots to move around, as if the roots were legs. They are normally warm and friendly but can turn fierce when protecting their forest homes. It is never recommended to take a branch from a dryad, as they will attack savagely.

ץﻮ๏ย๒ย ๔คภยкเ
Gyoubu Danuki, also known as the "tanuki" are creatures that possess a personality similar to that of a raccoon. They are seen as thieves, stealing things from peoples homes that are either completely useless or extremely valuable. However, they are actually quite pleasant to be around if you are willing to do business with them.

ђ๏lรtคยг
Holstaurs are exclusively female creatures, and are seen as dairy cows of the Wizarding World, much to their own protest. They are docile, but can be very dangerous when provoked. If a holstaur gives birth to a male, it is a minotaur, and if it is a female, it will produce magic milk like her mother. Hogwarts breeds holstaurs and minotaurs for teaching purposes and nutritional purposes. The milk in general is alcoholic, however raw, untreated holstaur milk is alcoholic to the point where a single shot glass worth of it will get you drunk. For this reason, the sale of untreated holstaur milk is illegal.

ςгเ๏รקђเภא
The criosphinx is a subspecies of sphinx which has the head of a ram. These creatures are much like regular rams in that the males butt heads during mating season. Female criosphinx also have horns, but they are not as large as a male's. These creatures are normally docile, but when they start chasing you, they will not give up.

The merlion, contrary to popular believe, is not related to merpeople. They are a species that has a lion's front body with a fish tail, similar to that of a merperson's. Unlike merpeople, merlions are very aggressive and will attack anything that they see as a threat to their territory or young. Much like a lion, humans can distinguish males from females by the mane that males have.

A type of centaur that lives deep in forests, distinguished by its beautiful white coat and a single horn coming out of its forehead. These creatures are very docile, much like the unicorn. Similar to the unicorn, they are very nervous creatures and prefer the gentle touch of a girl. Their horns have similar properties to unicorn horns, but their tail hair is more useful for clothing than wands.

Bitaurs are a type of Unitaur that has become flooded with demonic energy. While this usually happens by accident, such as becoming drunk by eating Intoxication Fruit, there are spells that use demonic energy, and using them on a Unitaur is likely to turn them into a Bitaur. While Unitaurs are seen as a symbol of purity, Bitaurs are seen as a symbol of impurity.

Nightmares are centaur like creatures that feed off of fear. They approach sleeping humans and turn their pleasant dreams into nightmares, feeding off the fear it produces. However, they are very cowardly, and will freeze up instantly if the person awakes. Certain nightmares who have been around humans since birth are less cowardly, but are still timid around conscious humans.

Nightwalkers are chameleon like creatures, about the size of a medium dog. They have the ability to take the form of a human, but are easily distinguished by the fact that they are unable to turn themselves into full sized humans, only humans who appear to be half-dwarf. In their reptile form, they possess the ability to seep poison when threatened and possess small spikes all over their body.

Ren Xiongmao are a type of beastman, known in the Muggle world as a 'furry.' The Ren Xiongmao in particular resembles the Chinese Giant Panda. Much like the panda, they are very gentle and love snacking on bamboo. However, they can be fierce fighters who use Bo staffs made of bamboo and utilize deadly forms of martial arts.

The grizzly beastman, often called simply the grizzly, resembles the American Grizzly Bear. A grizzly's favorite food is alraune nectar, especially after it has been processed by Honey Beasts. For this reason they dwell around Honey Hives in hopes of collecting the honey. The grizzly is normally very slow and dopey, but when they are angered, they exhibit immense strength close to that of a giant's.

Anubis are wolf/human hybrids, and a type of beastman, but are very different than werewolves in that they maintain the form constantly. They carry a golden staff with a balance at the end to measure how good or evil a person is. The reason they use this balance is to determine if a human is worthy of entering their temple. If a human's good outweighs their evil, they will escort them as if they were a simple houseguest. If the evil outweighs the good, they will attack with their sword.

Kobolds are rather affectionate beastmen, and act mainly like a house pet more than anything else. This is not to say they have low intelligence, but their thinking is mainly simple and instinctive. When they find a human who they like, they give him or her a collar and ask them to put it around their neck, signifying that the kobold belongs to them, not as a slave, but as a companion. However, more people see them as willing servants.

ฬєгєςคt
The werecat, unlike the werewolf, is a beastman. As such, it looks similar to the Muggle popularity known as a neko. Much like a kobold, they like being treated as pets. They are very aloof and lazy, much like an actual cat. They do love to play with young children, and sometimes can get a bit too rough. When this happens, the best thing to do is to conjure a bird to distract the werecat.

ภєк๏๓คtค
Nekomata, a subspecies of werecat, are distinguishable by their tail that splits in two, and the ability to turn into a cat. Unlike werecats, they do not like the idea of being a pet. They live in wizard settlements both in their normal form and cat form, and have been living with wizardkind for many centuries.

ςคเt รเtђ
Cait Sith are a most unusual type of beastman, being more similar to an anthropomorphic cat than a human with animal features. They are very selfish and always yowl outside of wizard houses in order to get food. However, when they get an angry witch or wizard chasing at them with a broom, they run screaming. They can be kept as pets, but they are rather demanding.

The Sphinx Beast is a beastman that closely resembles a sphinx. They have fiery attitudes, and a certain disliking for clothing. However, they do wear enough clothing to appropriately conceal their private areas, but nothing more. Much like the sphinx, when a person wanders into a sphinx beast's dwelling, they will be asked a riddle. If they answer correctly, the sphinx beast will devote herself to serving the human. If they answer wrong, she will attack.

A race of beastman, most of which live in meadow regions. They are docile compared to other werebeasts, and are friendly towards humans. They tend to be cheerful and extremely curious. Never at rest, they spend much of their time running and jumping to and fro. Wererabbits adore carrots and enjoy other vegetables, and can sometimes be seen as pests, as they will sneak into people's gardens to eat their vegetables. One famous example was a male wererabbit that local villagers referred to as Bugs Bunny due to his gray fur, the fact that he only stole carrots, and that he would occasionally be seen munching a carrot and would say "What's up doc?"

Matango are a type of plant people, but are more like fungus than actual plants. As such, they live in dark and damp places, such as rotting trees. They also have a parasitic reproductive cycle, spreading spores that when inhaled by humans, turn them into matango. If the matango spores do not infect humans, the spores will grow into Pseudo-Matango Mushrooms.

Large mice are pack beastmen that are the size of human children. They are curious and intelligent creatures who can solve problems that even some wizards can't. However, they can be dangerous. During the mating season, they will reproduce incredibly rapidly, which can cause a problem in wizarding villages. They are also capable of turning humans into mice by biting them, similar to the werewolf.

The March Hare is a wererabbit that was given magical powers, courtesy of The Queen of Hearts, who adores rabbits. Personality wise, they are no different than a normal wererabbit. However, in terms of appearance, their fur is pink in females and red in males. The powers they were given by The Queen of Hearts are similar to that of a house-elf's magic. They can apparate with just a snap of their fingers and conjure their favorite vegetables whenever they please. The March Hare is often seen having a tea party with the Mad Hatter and the Dormouse, much like in the Muggle fairytale, Alice in Wonderland

๓ค๔ ђคttєг
The Mad Hatter, in Muggle culture is a character from Alice in Wonderland. However in the wizarding world, they are matango that are given increased intelligence, courtesy of a witch who goes by "The Queen of Hearts". They gain the ability to walk and like wearing fancy clothing, which is normally a suit and top hat, the hat actually being a giant mushroom. These creatures actually blend in quite well with humans, especially in Britain, because of their love of black tea.

๔๏г๓๏ยรє
Upset by her restless and impatient nature, The Queen of Hearts cast a spell on a large mouse who then became the progenitor of this race. They tend to have a calm and dreamy personality. They are always drowsy, and they spend most of every day sleeping. They have no problem sleeping while walking, and amazingly can even carry on conversations with others by muttering in their sleep. It seems they can still hear the sound around them in their dreams even while sleeping, and they can definitely hold conversations while asleep, but sometimes the topic gets distorted, and they can't understand. Despite this, they are often seen with the Mad Hatter and March Hare at tea parties.

ςђєรђเгє ςคt
The Cheshire Cat is a rather tricky beastman, a werecat subspecies that has the ability to turn invisible. Their fur, which sheds during the summer, is quite useful for invisibility cloaks, and cheshire cats are bred for the purpose of providing fur. However, cheshire cats rather dislike being kept by humans, and they turn invisible in order to escape captivity.

The jabberwock was created by the Queen of Hearts when a dragon person was acting too proud of herself. The spell that the Queen cast changed the source of her pride from "being the absolute strongest and overpowering others" to "being the most gorgeous and overpowering others." As such, jabberwocks pride themselves on looks, not strength. That is not to say they are not powerful however, as they can make dangerous opponents who sway foes with their beauty.

Ogres are creatures characterized by green skin, long, white, shaggy hair, and large horns growing from their forehead. Ogres treat everything as if it was a battle, whether it be eating, sleeping, bathing, or mating. Ogres are known for their irrational aggression and war-like behavior. Some people believe that it is inbreeding that has caused ogres to be unusaully cruel, however, many people overlook the fact that ogres simply love the thrill of a challenge. An ogre does not wish to harm anyone, they are actually quite gental, but their love of rising to take on any challenge, and win makes people seem them as heartless brutes. However, many people consider female ogres to be much more docile than males. Ogre half-breeds are actually quite common, but they are much less aggressive than pure-blood ogres.

Oni, meaning Demon in Japanese, come in two varieties, blue and red. Blue onis are known for their gentle disposition, intelligence, and seriousness. Red onis are better known for their laid back personalities, and are normally carefree and don't worry about details. Onis live in packs, consisting of blue and red individuals. Unlike most pack creatures, oni packs are strictly female. Male oni are sent off to live in the wild by themselves by the time there are three years old, and are well capable of taking care of themselves. Onis, both male and female, would rather seek out a human mate then another oni. In cases where a human male has offspring with a female oni, the man will join the oni pack and the offspring will also stay in the pack, unless the mother decides to go off and live with her husband.

Goblin girls, as the name would suggest, are a female species. They are often mistooken for goblins, but are much different. Goblin girls, despite their small bodies, are capable of wielding clubs that are about the same size as their body, and are nowhere near as clever as a goblin. Goblin girls are normally found in groups, known as hordes, sometimes with a hobgoblin as their leader. These groups go around and rob people blind. However this is not always the case, as goblin girls are sometimes merchants who sell ores and crafted goods from their village. Since they have no males in their species, and they despise Goblins, they normally mate with human males.

ђ๏๒ﻮ๏๒lเภ
Hobgoblins are a mutation of goblin girls who have one part of them fattened up, either their chest or posterior. The hobgoblins are always leaders of hordes when there is one, as these creatures are not common in goblin girl briths. Their personalities are still childish, just like goblin girls, but they tend to be more spaced-out. Somehow, they give off a more carefree vibe. When human men are around them, they somehow are able to feel if he is attracted to her body. She will use this ability to find a husband.

Weresheep are a beastman that have a thick layer of wool, much like a sheep. They are bred by wizards and witches for their wool, as pajamas and furniture made from woven wool brings pleasent and peaceful sleep. However, one must be careful about shearing a weresheep's wool, as shearing too much can endanger them. They are very sensitive to teperature, and their wool never stops growing. In the summer, it is best to trim their wool to short lengths and continue to trim it until winter comes along. When winter starts, shearing is still required, to ensure that they do not overheat, but is required in less quanties of wool.

Troll people are a race of demihumans that live in villages they make underground or in caves. They've got a large frame, and a durable body with high vitality. They have a high affinity with earth elementals, and the power of the earth is imbued in their body. Perhaps because of that, various plants grow from their heads, and have a symbiotic relationship with the trolls. Due to the existence of the troll people as a soil, it's possible for the plants to grow even in bad environments such as caves, and wastelands, etc. On the other hand, due to various medicinal benefits brought about by the plants, troll people are blessed with the ability to rapidly regenerate even if wounded a bit, and they can even use them as emergency food and medicine. Gentle and highly intelligent by nature, this race has had various intermingling and trade with humans, and sometimes there's even social cooperation. When hit by sunlight, the power of the earth that dwells within them increases. Due to this, the "soil" of their body becomes an existence even closer to "the earth", activating the plants on their head, and the medicinal effects caused by the plants increase.

A slime is a type of creature known as a semiliquid. These creatures take the form of women made out of slime, and are actually feminine species. The basic slime color is blue, but there are other colors. A slime's goal in life is to find a human male who will help her divide and produce children. Each slime color has a distinct personality. Basic blue slimes are unitelligent and do not have developed feelings

гє๔ รlเ๓є
Red slimes, in comparison to blue slimes, are not as numerous. They are physically and mentally more advanced than blue slimes, especially emotionally. There are even some that exist that have emotions that are almost entirely humans. Compared with the blue slimes that mostly move based on instinct, they are a bit rational, and can easily convey their intentions.

A type of slime that lives in dark, wet places like sewers and caves. They are intelligent enough to speak human words, but their thinking processes are extremely simple. Guided by instinct, they wander in search of prey. They produce a strong odor from their liquid bodies, so one will likely know right away when they’re close by. Their bodies are always carrying out chemical reactions, which cause pieces of them to be released into the air as bubbles. Perhaps due to this they need to eat a lot more than an ordinary slime to sustain their bodies, and in turn are extremely greedy.

Dark Slimes are the most powerful member of the slime family, with the possible exception of a mature Queen Slime. Unlike their lowlier cousins, dark slimes possess a nucleus "slime core" that stores magic power and makes them powerful spellcasters. They are not seen much outside Demon Realms. Unlike the other slimes, who reproduce through fission, Dark Slimes can also reproduce by absorbing human women, and when they are released, they become a Dark Slime.

ภยгє๏ภคﻮ๏
Out of all the slime monsters they are especially proficient in mimicry. They can form clothes that look and feel almost like the real thing. They usually go with a kimono, but they can make any clothing as long as they’ve seen it before. They use this ability to try to pass themselves off as human women, but since the clothing they make is always wet it’s normally easy to see through it. For that reason, it is said that they only show themselves in front of humans on rainy days. They appear near human settlements, highways, etc., standing dimly in the rain, gently smiling at the men who pass nearby.

Mutant slimes that are called slime queens. As the name suggests, the main body is a "Queen" found at the center, surrounded by several divisions who appear to be "Servants". It almost looks like a group of slimes close together, but it’s actually a single monster. The typical slimes ability to divide is flawed in their case. They can’t store up sufficient nutrients while dividing and as a result, they have become bloated. The divisions have different abilities than the main body, but all are under the control of the main body, the "Queen". Their consciousnesses, thoughts, and memories are all shared in common.

Sea slimes are unusual, solid in form, members of the slime family that live in the seas of the world. Newborn sea slimes can set off searching for human men from the moment they bud from their mother. A monster even unique amongst the slime family. Although they feed on fluids, they can’t assume the form of a woman, so they have a peculiar mode of life. They capture and infest human women, then use their new hosts to provide them with fluid. Besides dwelling in caverns and ruins, etc., they also sometimes sneak into human settlements via cargo. Lurking in narrow spaces or in the interior of armor, etc., they coil around human women as soon as they approach, enter their body, and infest them. Prior to infestation, they are known as parasite slimes, and after infestation they are known as slime carriers. Women who are joined to a slime carrier are completely unaware of it and go about their lives as they usually would.

A slimy monster that has an amorphous body. Long, long ago they were created by the demons of chaos as a race of servants, but it is purported that they fled from their former mistresses upon gaining intelligence and emotions. They have submissive, quiet personalities, and they do not attack humans. Even as of the present, it is said that in pursuit of a new master, they will appear before men who strike their fancy, or anyone who desires to employ them, and serve them devotedly.

Rulers of the desert who sleep within royal coffins, deep within ruins that dot the desert region. Although they are monsters, divine power swells within them. They are powerful beings that command the "anubis" and "sphinx." It is said that they awaken from their long slumber when their ruins become filled with highly condensed demonic energy, due to monsters that dwell in the ruins. They are classified as undead, because they were buried thousands of years ago, but they are fully alive when awakened. With the royal talent for grasping the hearts of the people, the divine power to illuminate people, and devilish charm from awakening as a monster; the pharaohesses possess mighty "royal power". Holstaur milk is much different than cow's milk. When first harvested from the holstaur's udders, it is very alcoholic. In order for it to be sellable, it must be treated so that it contains less alcohol. This is done by heating the milk until the alcohol cooks away and there is nothing but milk. However, some wizards and witches do not make the beverage non-alcoholic, the legal alcohol level for holstaur milk is 10%. It is also one of the most delicious and nutritious drinks available in the Wizarding world, and wizards and witches who are married to muggles will sometimes smuggle it into their world to make money that they can trade at Gringotts. The best dairy based treats are made from holstaur milk

Each magic gem has different magical properties, some being used in potions, others being used as wand cores.

The reason it was named prisoner fruit is because people who consume the fruit become addicted to its taste instantly, litterally becoming prisoners of the fruit. There is a sweets shop called Tricoromille in Hogsmeade that speciallizes in Prisoner Fruit. They sell the prisoner fruit to people who want to attract a crush. By giving the fruit to their crush, they litterally capture the person's heart by offering more of the fruit that they are addicted to. There is an antidote to cure the prisoner fruit's effects, but it is hard to concoct.

There are many variant races in the slime family, and the taste and properties of their slime jelly are each somewhat different. It is not uncommon for slime family monsters to feed their husband a portion of their own body. However, since they fundamentally hate it when anyone other than their husband consumes their body, it’s a bit difficult for humans other than their husbands to obtain “slime jelly”. For that reason, if one wants to get jelly from them, it's best to either sneak close without them noticing and collect a small amount of the excess slime, or negotiate with their husband to get him to convince them.

Aside from that, cooking it will increase the sweetness and tastiness, so stir-fry is also recommended. Additionally, the core is moist and squishy, unlike the crisp leaves. They're easy to cut, and it doesn't seem to cause any pain whatsoever, so please relax. Also, when eating mandragora's root, it has a mysterious taste that's both slightly sweet and slightly bitter that can be addictive. It seems people that like the taste find it unbearably good. Intoxication Fruit, also known by the names "Demon Realm Grapes" or "Drunkard Drupes" is well known in the wizarding world as a strange fruit that bears a resemblance to transparent grapes filled with thick fluid. When the tree that it grows from starts to blossom and produce fruit, it leaks sap into the devoloping fruit. As it does, it is filtered down to the bottom, where it becomes more concentrated. The pieces of fruit at the bottom have less juice, but are more concentrated. The reason it is called Intoxication Fruit is quite obvious, eating it is the equivalent of drinking wine. When the fruit is bit into, the sac like pieces burst in the consumer's mouth, gushing the delicious taste through their mouth.

It seems that it actually is liquid maintaining its shape through demonic energy after all. When you extract the green-colored leaf part and stem part, the fruit is unable to maintain its shape, and it crumbles, changing into liquid. These mushrooms constantly secrete sticky goo which continuously trickles down, so the sticky stuff won't dry out, and even if you wash them, they soon go back to being sticky again. For that reason, many dishes have been devised that utilize the viscosity, such as the highly sticky and exquisite “sticky mushroom soup”.
