Broadway Shows and Musicals: Which ones?

Postby Pink Elephant » Mon Jun 12, 2017 7:49 am

Hey, so I've been wanting to get into broadway and all that jazz, and I was wondering if there are any must see/listen to musicals or productions? Or just what are your favorites?
I'm just a girl who likes to wear shorts with leggings and will randomly break out into song! ^~^

Im not a big fan of Hamilton but I've heard its pretty good. For me I personally love Heathers and recommend it!

Hello again!
So if you're looking into more light-hearted musicals I would look into the disney musicals because they often have some different songs or differently written songs from the ones in their movies, but always keep the same plot so it's still fun to listen to. I would also recommend Roger and Hammerstein's as well because their stuff is pretty darn great

If you want more dramatic or dark musicals i would look into Sweeny Todd (Although I have personally never been a fan of the story line, the music is pretty well done), Phantom of the Opera (It's my favorite thing ever), Jekyll and Hyde (another personal favorite), and The Heathers (I have never been a fan of this one either but it still has some pretty decent music).

I second Phantom of the Opera and Kinky Boots. Both are good. My favorite musical that I've seen is definitely Something Rotten! That one is probably the funniest one I've seen. Book of Mormon is also funny. I've seen others, but they're not coming to mind at the moment. ;o

I'm not into much Broadway, but I absolutely love movie musicals! My favorites include:

    The Sound of Music
    Singin' in the Rain
Grease (the plot is rubbish but the music is catchy)
    Guys and Dolls
My Fair Lady (a little on the long side)
    a lot of Disney

One of the only musicals I've watched is Little Shop of Horrors. It is kind of weird, but I highly recommend it!!

I watched my first Broadway show a few months ago in New York City! It was awesome. I watched Kinky Boots, which isn't very popular, but has a great plot and humour. The songs aren't that great themselves, but I loved the show anyway. The audience gave it a standing ovation at the end.
I'm also a fan of Hamilton and Les Miserables, despite not ever watching preformances live. I did however, find the stage performance of Hamilton on Youtube and downloaded it before it got removed.

I absolutely love Dear Evan Hanson. If you're looking for a musical that will also hit you in all the feels, this Broadway show is perfect. I play the soundtrack from it constantly.
