Rareness Guide
July - December 2008
By Solloby
================================
This guide will no longer be updated.
================================
To help prevent this forum from being cluttered with 'is this dog rare?' or 'I think I got a rare! *shows common pet*' threads, I have decided to make a topic that outlines, from what I can tell so far, which pets are rare and which pets are not. I have been here since the first adoptables back in April, but am by no means an expert so feel free to suggest revisions.

For all pet variations, see my archive here.

But before I start, something to take into consideration:
1. July pets are very scarce because not many were around in July.
2. August pets are scarce because only a few were around in August.
I have ignored these 2 points for the purpose of the guide below so that the variations can be compared in terms of rareness, but definitely keep this in mind when trading & adopting: all July dogs should be considered rare, and all August dogs should be considered uncommon.

Scale
Common, Uncommon, Rare, Very Rare, Extremely Rare
- Please note that the difference between Rare & Very Rare is large.

Cats, Horses, Butterfly Wolves
All are readily available and common (except the palomino September Special horse & Halloween Black Cat).
There is no real point trading these.

Gen 2 Dogs
There are currently 2 litters with 4 puppies in each.
The 1st two litters of Gen 2 dogs are all common.
In the 2nd litter of Gen 2 dogs, the green with purple swirls is most common, the purple pups are common and the green puppy is uncommon/rare.

Rats
All July Rats were common. The Pawprint rats had 2 variations, but they both seem equally common.
All August Rats were common. The Pink Heart rats had 2 variations, but they both seem equally common.

Uncommon Rats (September):

Most Common dogs include Red Target, Rose, Light Orange, Stripey Pink & Patchy Pink pups.
Common dogs include Red X, Red X PPS, Rose PPS & Floppy-Eared Pink pups.
Uncommon dogs include the Blue Rose & Dark Orange pups.

(I am not positive about the pink pups, or which is rarer out of the Red X pups)

October
There are rare October dogs, but due to the large quantity of puppies adopted they should probably be considered closer to uncommon than rare.

December
There are a large volume of pets released in December, and due to the very low adoption limit, having spares of these pets will be rare in the future. But having one of these pets, currently (December/early January) is common.

So what does this mean? Hold onto your December pets for a little. Keeping this in mind...

I disagree with your brown/hunter puppy assessment.

The light growing seems rare as a bunch of people are looking for one on the trade board. Even I have 15 of these puppies and not one light growing yet. Of the 15, that is: 2 dark growing, 8 dark PPS and 5 light PPS.

I also seem to have quite a time getting anything other than the camo pups. Perhaps others have had better luck, but I'd say the swirl variants are uncommon/rare.

I agree with all of Solloby`s assessment.

Of all the newborns of the brown puppy from October, more than half became PPS. The growing outcomes seem to play a game. XD One puppy grows to the dark faced outcome, the other to the light brown one. ^^` I am pretty sure they are both on the same, or closely the same level of rareness.

The green swirls are pretty popular with me, and I have ALOT of the 9th day grown one... So I would consider the 15th day one more uncommon... ;3 I mean, I have about 10 of the one who grows in the 9th day, and about 4 of the others.... Again, it might just be good/bad luck.

but - if you ads, you adopt tons of pets you are more likely to get rare/hard to find ones, just out of sheer numbers.

September
There are no rare September dogs.

Common dogs include Red Target, Rose, Light Orange, Floppy-Eared Pink & Stripey Pink pups.
Less common dogs include Red X, Red X PPS, Rose PPS & Patchy Pink pups.
Uncommon dogs include the Blue Rose & Dark Orange pups.

(I am not positive about the pink pups, or which is rarer out of the Red X pups)

Pink pups, I could probably correct you a little. -from what I've seen-

Common dogs include Red Target, Rose, Light Orange, Floppy-Eared Pink & Stripey Pink pups.
Less common dogs include Red X, Red X PPS, Rose PPS & Patchy Pink pups.

I believe you mixed the two I bolded up.

Shian: To be honest most of my puppies are still newborns and I don't have any non-PPS variations of that one yet. I'm not sure if I should label both as rare, or uncommon/rare. I'll keep an eye on these to see about changing them further though, thanks.

For the green pups, I have seen quite a few green swirls around, and out of my oldest 3 green pups one was green swirl and 2 camo so I don't think they are rare. The green with pink however seem to be.

Topizots: Thanks! <3

Cervas: Thanks for confirming that the green swirl pups are pretty common, and thanks for which date is rarer, I think I agree with that so I'll add the dates.

Koko: So you feel the green & pink should be downgraded to uncommon/rare?
MiseryBliss: Very good point.

Just a reminder that the difference between Rare & Very Rare is large.

Nickjr: Really? From my little batch the floppy-eared pink is most common. Then again I think I have 3 of those, 2 stripe and 1 patchy so I don't think that's really enough to go on. Can anyone else post their thoughts on the pinks? I might have to look into them a little more huh.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, keep it coming ^.^

You are welcome. ^^ I am glad I could help.

About the pink pups from September...

I am guessing these, from my experience:

Common:Image (Stripey pup/dog, most common of all outcomes.

Image (Patchey pink pups are also common, but a little more rare than the stripey ones)

Uncommon:Image (Floppy heared pink dog. They are the most uncommon for what I see in the trading threads of September/ early October)

@Solloby: It could be you happened to be lucky and get those the most. =p With about a million bajillion more out there XD Exagerated! XD

#cervas: I have seen the same. Stripy one most common, patchy one common yet rarer than the stripy one, floppy eared one the most rare out of the three.
