After some positive feedback on my wording and ideas for a guide on the History of CS trading and valuations, I've decided to make a post searching for people to help me with a guide like this, since I can't do all of the research on my own.
The goal of this research- and (hopefully) future guide- is to break down the history of trading, explain where high-value trading, values, and terminology came from, and make more people trade-literate.
So.. what am I looking for, exactly?
- Old "Fair" Trades of "List" pets
- Old Threads Discussing Valuations (Creation of Rares List and the like)
- Direct Quotes from Tess on the valuation of pets (like this post that has Tess saying she didn't make any of the Sorbets rarer than the other)
- Direct word-of-mouth from 08-09 players*
*Ideally, word-of-mouth would be backed up with posts, but if you're an 08-09 player that used to be involved in the scene, I encourage you to post whether or not you've got any immediate information and don't mind your posts being scrubbed through for info.
I want to help! How do I start looking?
There's a few ways to help out. If you find an 08-09 player who was involved in the scene, and is okay with you digging, you can go through their old posts by taking these steps:
1: Click their profile and hit, "Search user's posts"
2: Scroll down to the bottom of the page
3: Click the dropdown box that says "Descending" and change it to "Ascending"
4: Hit "Go"
This will sort that player's posts from Oldest to Newest Which is what we're looking for. There will be lots of irrelevant stuff, probably, but we're looking for the relevant things.
Alternatively, I haven't had time to look through the old "Good Trade" and "Fair Trade" threads. Here are a few I've found:
