There's so very little to do sometimes.
Boredom was Shutter's worse fear, more so than cannibals or clowns.
But swimming always seemed to sweep away such silly things.
His little paws padded across his lawn, down a series of stone steps.
The familiar white-noise of ducks and little splashes set to greeting him.
Of course, the pond was as empty as ever, aside from the feather creatures milling about
Closer to the shore Shutter wandered, water seeping out of grass to gather round his paws
A smell of mud, and water, and plants wafted up towards flaring nostrils
And hit him suddenly, causing small coughs to rumble out
Murky water seeping into fur, swelling round his tummy and lapped at his hind quarters
"Oh my.."
The canine body tensed as a shiver ran up his spine
His paw-pads squelched uneasily and
he fought the urge to let out the femme shriek trapped inside his throat
The bottom of ponds aren't as picturesque as the tops:
the bottom has dead fish and kelp to step on
