Aurora loves the Aurora Borealis constellation for two reasons.

One, she's named after it because of her star-like pelt, and two, it's her favorite constellation that she's been studying for quite some time. She's studied many constellations, but she feels almost connected to Aurora Borealis.

The first time she ever went stargazing with a book she bought from the bookstore, Aurora Borealis was the first one she ever saw, and she's been happy to have been named after it ever since. Range Trotters are the result of crossbreeding Orlov Trotters, Finnhorses, Welsh Cobs (section C & D) and Hanoverians. Later crosses of Quarter Horses, Paint and Appaloosas to gain color and to give a boost to their hardiness.With a height average of 13-15 hands, they're a hardy breed with characteristics for various disciplines.

Created for use as work, carriage and leisure riding horses originally, they now serve as long-distance range horses, such as work with Park Rangers and mounted officers.

Willing and eager personalities, most are quickly trained to be bombproof and therefore trusted mounts in all lines of work; some are being seen in local show jumping competitions, others are notably used in therapeutic sessions for their calm temperaments. Harness races and endurance trials are common for the breed, as they are able to sustain an extended trot without tire. Cross-Country competitions see some of the taller Trotters, but due to their cob lineage this is still uncommon.

Despite the variety of competitions and work these horses are being seen in, they are still famously skilled as endurance racers. Many competitors have chosen Range Trotters due to their tireless work ethic, as well as the ease in which they can be trained. Many have become champions in endurance trials, and they have quickly become a sought after breed for their natural ability.

Arms crossed as he glared at the broken and downed rails, Sam shuffled the toothpick between his lips from one side to the other as he sighed out his nose.

“What’re repairs for this up to now, Sam?” Jerome asked as he pulled on his leather work gloves, stepping up beside his shorter friend and coworker. Leaning back on one leg and setting his hands on his hips, Jerome chuckled lowly at the sour look on Sam's face.

“I’ll tell you, if you tell me what's the pool up to now?”

“Not a chance, bud. After you took us all with the corral repairs? Ain’t that stupid.” Jerome chuckled again before the two men begrudgingly set to work trying to repair the fence that, for the last four months, kept mysteriously breaking. Horses weren’t pastured out this far, and the ranger station was some miles away. Larger animal tracks weren’t seen, just the usual coyote or bobcat, as well as the obvious tracks of dogs and cats and horses on the trail both inside the property line and out. Nothing out of the ordinary.

“Think we’re being haunted by something.”

“Doubt it, Jerome. Don’t believe in that crap. Not like there’s anything to haunt all the way out here, anyway.”

Quietwish was born blind and has lived her entire life listening. Starting at a young age, before she even became an apprentice, she became infatuated with the elders stories of Starclan and what they do for the clan, and would oftentimes daydream about having visions from Starclan and wonder if she'd be able to see the beautiful territory of the Stars when she eventually passed. Many cats around her found it quite morbid for her to speak of death in such an optimistic light, but the medicine cat at the time, Smokeshine, grew more and more intrigued about the young kits passion and strong belief for their ancestors. When the time came for Quietwish to be apprenticed, Smokeshine ended up interrupting the ceremony to ask Nightstar to allow Quietwish to train under her and become a medicine cat apprentice, praising Quietwish for her strong belief in their ancestors and stating she was beginning to grow old and would love nothing more than to pass her duties onto somecat like Quietwish. Quietwish was ecstatic and completed her apprenticeship quicker than most; Her ancestors even allow her to walk among the stars in dreams, allowing her to experience the gift of sight.

Littlefang, sitting down at the edge of the small pond surrounded by flowers and small prey by the mountains, stared down at his reflection in the quiet, still waters. He frowned, batting his paw at the face he saw looking back at him. It rippled, messing up the reflection before calming back down and stilling once more. He huffed in frustration, standing back up, and pacing the pond. He ended up frightening a small billy kid. It hopped off back up the mountains, bleating.

He splashed his paw in the water again, water getting on his fur and soaking his paw. He paced more, annoyed at something... Maybe someone. He heard movement behind him and stopped in his tracks. He swiveled his head, frowning as he tried to look around to see who was there.

"Oh...It's just you," he started, watching as Elmleaf cautiously walked towards him. He sighed, sitting down at the pond, looking down into the reflections. Part of him hated what he saw in the reflection. He hated it so much.

Elmleaf sat down next to Littlefang, wrapping his tail around Littlefang's own. He sighed a little, leaning against Littlefang's side. "What do you see, Fangs?" He asked quietly as to not disturb any animal around them, or even the carp in the pond.

Littlefang placed his paw on top of the water, rippling the reflection again. "Someone unable of catching even just one measly mouse... I mean, how could a hunting trip have gone horribly wrong, just because of me? Why can't I hunt? Why am I like this? It's not fair!" His voice raised a little, but he lowered it once more, realizing there was no point in yelling. "What's the point of being a hunter if I can't even hunt?"
