Stray Dog's cake:

Stray Dog described their cake:

Our cake - 'our' because my friend and I made it together (design was mostly mine, she was the cooking wiz) - started off as two seperate sponge cakes. The plan was originally to make a double-layered sponge cake with a chicken in a smoothie on top; however, it didn't quite work out as we planned. After checking on the cakes as they cooked, we thought one of them was ready to come out of the oven but, as we found out later, it wasn't. Because it was still too soft and sticky, and yet edible, it sunk in the middle, giving us the idea of a chicken in a nest. So we placed the sunken cake atop the other, keeping them stuck together with cream, then my friend proceeded to ice the cake with light green icing (to resemble the 'green' theme of CS) while I used special icing (what you used to make your wonderful sun dog, Tess!) to mould my chicken and his accessories - a pair of sunglasses and his own little smoothie cup. After letting my chicken harden in the fridge, I painted him yellow with black sunnys and a black smoothie cup. Next came our genius idea for the nest, snapping sticks of Pocky so they would fit as the base of our nest. My friend had already stuck pineapple lollies, green side up, on the side of the cake to resemble leaves (the original plan was to use peppermint leaf lollies but my friends little brother ate them all ^^'') and so I helped place easter eggs - still wrapped in their foil to make the cake colourful - around the chicken nest. After sprinkling some '100s and 1000s' around the easter eggs and writing 'Happy Birthday Chicken Smoothie' near the edge on the top of the cake in multi-coloured icing, we added some finishing touches to our nest - purple and pink 'Nerds' and a few more easter eggs - then placed my darling chicken on his nest. As a finishing touch, I placed a few 'Nerds' in his cup so it didn't look so empty and black. I think the cake turned out well and it tasted great - even though our original plan didn't work out, I think what we ended up making turned out much better. Just proves that nothing is certain in the world of creativity!
