Awesome picture, I love the shadows you've created, perhaps giving the eye more definition would give a focal point to the image. On the fur problem, I tend to blend the underneath and then go over it with a pen tool and it normally comes out pretty well... I haven't figured out pen pressure on here yet, I prefer Photoshop. But it's a really good picture I like it.
