From my experiance, the american's have nearly no tail and are much bulkier. I had a friend who had one.
I look, maybe I'll create a rex, next. lol! I've never seen one up close, so I'll have to find a good pick to use as reference.

Here's a good pic. The japanese bobtail has a more refined body, were as the american is modeled after the bobcat.

I colored mine like a calico though, it's my favorite color of cat.

Yeah, I haven't seen an american up close, but I've seen a couple of the japanese on a cat show once. But aren't the american more long haired? That's what I see when I research about the different cats X3 But well these breeds aren't my 'speciality' anyway so I'm not sure in their standards^^

And yes calicos are totally beautiful <3 I have a 14-15 year old lady in that color irl <3 Not odd-eyed though X3

Anyway, that's not the point here XD It's still an amazing picture no matter breed @.@

Thanks! And it's no big deal. I love talking about cats! I'm the cat person in my family. I have six, all hand-raised. I have three american short-hairs, one that's a medium hair, and two white nine month old kittens that I'm not sure about.

Me too^^ I'm the cat person in my family too and I love to talk about them too X3
I have a lot of cats. Barn cats. =3 Well, I don't exactly have my own because I've moved out to live by myself a few years ago and I really don't think it's proper to have cats in a very small flat.. (I can't wait untill I get a bigger place so I can have cats X3)
But my parents have cats, they live on a farm so we've had plenty of cats all my life XD
Currently we have 4 tuxedos, a black cat, a calico, a tortieshell, a red tabby and a salmon tabby =3 So that's 9 cats. And they are of all ages XD Ranging from 15 years old to kittens from this summer XD

So yeah I love cats^^

Cats are awesome xD especially bobtails. When I told my colleagues about "cats with no tails" they thought I invented this... And the drawing is awesome. But I have no idea how to color it...

What is even more wierd is short legged cats X3 Munchkin cats =3 They are totally adorable and I didn't believe my eyes when I first saw one on TV XD I'm still dying to see one irl =3 I hope to see a couple of them on cat shows, when I start to show cats^^

But my passion is pointed cats. Birman, siamese, ragdoll, burmese and what not <3 I simply adore that pattern =3
