Yes, this is heavily based on many of the species found in James Cameron's Avitar.

Okay...so this is just a rough idea...I'll be drawing it out traditionally or on GIMP, and that version will be much better with proper anatomy porportions and such.

Hm, I'd planned on adding a mane-like extension of fur, but then I saw you didn't want manes, so I was unsure as to whether or not I should add it...as for the legs, this is just a basic layout to give me the idea. I drew out a better version in which the legs were shorter and the build more canid-like.
