First of all, the head looks a bit too small. It should be less curved at the start of the muzzle- it should be slightly curvy and go up and curve- like a hill would.
And second of all, the nose is a bit too big. it should be half that size. And the scar should be more 'sharp' at the ends, like real scars. And for the shading- the wolf should look less 'shiny'. There should actually be more darkened areas than lightened areas.
As for the neck, it could be thinner and smaller than the body- like most necks are.
I disagree with most of this, honestly. The head is the perfect size for a wolf. You can't see the rest of the body, so how can you judge that? What you said about the curve of the head... wolves have very flat foreheads. Real wolves, that is. The forehead/curve should actually be flatter, not taller. Here's what I'm talking about:
http://www.wwuk.org/image/saskiawolves.jpgThe nose should be a bit longer, actually. Wolves have extremely long muzzles. Only a cartoon should have a nose any shorter than what is portrayed here. And even then, an unrealistic cartoon.
I agree about the shading and the scars, but the neck really shouldn't be any thinner. This is obviously a wolf that lives in very cold areas, therefore it's fur should be very thick. The neck is the right width in this case. If is was a a breed that didn't live in snow, it could be thinner, but all wolves in general have thick necks.
Those who kill sheep should mind where they sleep,
When there's nothing to hear the shotgun is near,
The curse of the farmer is likely to harm yer,
A scent in the morning is sent for a warning,
At a cloud on the sun a wise dog will run,
It's the sharp and alert who avoid being hurt and a dog that's gone feral is living in peral.
Those with blood on their paws and wool in their jaws should heed these old saws.
