Something’s in the Woods

You are lost and it is dark. You have no idea how long you’ve been out here; is it days, months? You see a glint of red in the unimaginable darkness between the trees in front of you a distance away; maybe 15 feet? You stop moving, a small twinge of fear blossoming inside your chest. Your breath hitches as you see it again. A circular, dark glowing red in the void. A black shape moves from within it. A sharp, black line.. your blood turns to ice when you realize it’s a pupil, and this is an eye. By the time you realize it, you also realize it’s growing. And then you see the creatures shape materialize and become defined. A black canid, larger than any wolf you’d see. Its mouth was wrong, with sharp teeth sticking out this way and that. The mouth was too long, too many teeth. It watched you, as you stood frozen with fear.
