I keep thinking about the few little memories you get of what his life was like before the whole dark urge thing started in earnest. It seems like it was relatively normal for a time, living with a family in the poor part of the city. He's described as "not even an adolescent" when he kills them. A child. Nightmares turned from hypothetical fears to memory. What choice did he have after that, really? If you can't control it, you may as well devote yourself to it. At least then your new found father "rewards" you when you snap like a rabid animal. Eventually you don't even have to be compelled anymore. You take a new name, and then the last member of your childhood 'family' is finally gone, killed by your own hand, and you don't even care.

Anyway I just think he's neat <3
